So, back in 1988 when (allegedly) 8-year-old Brianna got her NES and played as Peach in Super Mario Bros. 2, she thought:
"Wow this is great, from now on the games industry is gonna represent women too!"

Even without knowing who Wu is, you can smell that horseshit from a mile away.

Notice how she conveniently avoided using the more socially common "when I discovered Samus was a woman" narrative instead? Almost like attaching her name to Metroid would produce some unfortunate Google results.

At 8, the most "progressive" a boy would get is "yeah, girls can be cool, too".

I remember reading about the second Avatar cartoon, and people were discussing how the male demographic didn't mind a female protagonist. That the story was competently written and there was lots of action matters more to a boy. It's that simple.

Hell, almost everyone I knew watched The Powerpuff Girls. When you're a kid, you don't really give a shit about gender (beyond the general "girls are icky" attitude), you just want something that'll entertain you for a while.

Is Wu even capable of making a face that doesn't look criminally insane and disturbed? It's like there isn't a single freeze frame with Wu's face out there that doesn't have some weird, contorted muscles or the bulged eyes of a robot who'd taken control of a human and can't restrain its insane bloodlust.

It can easily be proven to be him, so would it be possible for him to have a case?

It's possibly mildly defamatory. He did actually make that video, for instance, and it's a matter of characterization more than outright lying. The Jace "driving to kill me" shit is more defamatory since even in the dumb world of Jace Connors, he was clearly driving to challenge her to a street race. Not to kill her.

He even (somewhat) clearly talks about street racing in the clips they play of the video. It's captioned as "(unintelligible)." Given the fact that it's those peoples' jobs to make sense of this kind of shit, there's no way nobody caught that. The fact that I, whose job isn't to do that, caught it proves that the "unintelligible" bullshit is just that.

This is Wu we're talking about, so dishonesty's a given, but I can't help but get a bit angry while imagining Wu specifically telling them what to transcribe and what not to. It's nothing new, but it's just so disgusting how he flat-out lies on national TV to craft his stupid narrative.

Figured. With Jace they made sure to use the street race tweet and garble everything after street race. -- I can only imagine if they gave Wu a whole episode tho.

Pakman should do a follow-up. :ween:

I never realized before watching this just how fucking dishonest Wu's facial expressions and body language are. I don't think I've ever seen anyone with a less trustworthy demeanor. If she told me "Two plus two equals four" while making that wide-eyed, gently nodding, mummy-mouth expression, I would probably ask for a reference.

It seems like a lot of trannies reconstruct their own childhood narrative after transitioning in order to further legitimize their condition. If you disliked sports or preferred a female video game character, it was clearly because of a deep-set gender identity that you already perceived in elementary school.

It strikes me this blurring is either because of defamation reasons, considering they're making bogus characterizations of this video or, possibly, copyright. Presumably Tyce owns the copyright to this shit. It's almost certainly a fair use, though, so I'm going with defamation. I.e. they know they're airing utterly false bullshit.

no you just need a release to air someone.

Also to legitimize the thought process that GENDER DYSPHORIA DOES NOT EXIST AND IS NOT A MENTAL DISORDER AND WE'RE TOTALLY SANE YOU FUCKING TRUSCUM.

Also, to assert that children can be transgender, so that these sick fucks can permanently destroy the life of some boy who likes to play with barbies so that they can feel better about their obvious mental issues.

I think Wu realized that her thread was losing steam, she was getting less funny, and that we're the people that care about her the most, so she did this just for us. :heart-full:

Only one new news article mentioning Wu, and it's not even about SyFi. http://www.cio.com/article/3045552/careers-staffing/this-time-it-s-personal.html

EDIT: This one just came through: http://thinkprogress.org/culture/2016/03/17/3759663/sxsw-online-harassment-summit/

“How about if I do this if I feel unsafe?” Wu said to the female officer who had walked up beside her. She made a quick motion, raising her arm near her face and landing in her lap, that would serve as a distress signal in case the event turned hostile or was disrupted by protesters.

Wu is logging in to Steam every night, but not doing anything I can see.

I like how BriJohnna is in the middle of saying "the most terrifying thing I've ever seen" while making this facial expression.

It's safer that way but if that were really the case, all news would be filled with blurred footage because there is no way that they get releases from every one of the millions of people who show up.

Though yes, right of publicity is another issue here.

To some extent, once you release footage of yourself, though, you're granting an implied license to at least look at it, and once you've legally obtained footage like that, such as by downloading from YouTube, you're entitled to make fair use of it.

Blurring it does make it clear, though, that they're entirely aware they're engaging in some fairly janky behavior.

It's also obviously bullshit. Unless Wu is claiming never to have looked in a mirror and seen that horrifying mug.

no, with a crowd you put up signs saying there is filming or in the case of sporting events, the release is usually on the ticket.
in this case, the producer asked their pa , "can we get a release of the skull mask kid?" "no? he didn't have any contact info?" "just blur it out"

this is how television works
