There's a huge lore to how this happened and a lot of factors including the catlady administration of SA, the rise and fall of the Helldump and Laissez’s Fair boards of SA (this article sums it up from a more political context, along with this CTH post and replies), the Weird Twitter clique, and the rise of /r/shitredditsays resulting in goons migrating to and shitting up Reddit.

When SA removed these boards or their posters got banned, they ended up dispersing into more mainstream parts of the internet and their own SA offshoot forums.

I had sneaking suspicions, but never any definitive proof until now. Thank you for sharing this. Of course I'm gonna summarize it better than you and say SA was never good.
