We have a thread on the sport of boxing but not one for practitioners of the sweet science itself.

Post here about gear, training drills, or that weird kicking thing you do if you like Thai lady boys.

Anyone use Adidas gloves? I’ve got my eye on the Tilt 250.

I pretty much just do bag work and a bit of technical sparring as I can’t afford to greet clients with a black eye (which is a great excuse to avoid getting punched in the head.)

I used to box when i was a kid. Didint like it much so i joined the scoots instead. I do remember having a sparing match with someone that used to bully me and beat the shit out of him. Left me alone after that.

Paul vs Tank is officially off and I couldn’t be happier. Jake deserves this shit for trying to keep his circus act going.

Amusingly, it hurts Davis more. Paul will just box someone else and still make money. Davis was banking on this payday for his retirement, by his own admission. Getting his ass beat by Roach "took his love for the game".

Fuck 'im. A return to prison beckons for the turd.

Uncle Dana cooked with this second Zuffa Boxing card. Just wish they got rid of the gay ass Zuffa trunks and let them customize their gear more.

Does anyone here actually box?
I started training Mexican-style boxing a few weeks ago, obviously I suck but I’m having a good time. Just have to keep showing up, that’s all there is to it.
My background is grappling, over three years and running of training BJJ, Judo, and various wrestling styles with a smidge of MMA. Some of the grappling habits are disadvantageous for boxing, especially when you get tired so I’m having to really focus on changing those habits.
For example, you typically wrestle with the strong leg forward as that’s how you shoot and you switch lead legs all the time as you’re clinching and moving around. In boxing, totally different footwork. In grappling you typically have your arms low to guard your hips and legs, in boxing you have to keep your hands up for obvious reasons. In grappling it’s normal to put your head on the inside for various takedowns, in boxing you want to slip to the outside so you can hit the body and not eat an uppercut or hook. And that’s not even mentioning the entirely different footwork…
It’s different than what I’m used to, but as a martial artist you need to have serviceable hands and the only way to get better at boxing is to box.
