It isn't the 90s anymore, you can get leather seats in actual economy cars nowadays, and have been able to for quite awhile now. My dad was shopping economy cars in 2015 and specifically wanted one with leather seats. Was very easy to find one, as the Cruze, Jetta, Corolla, Civic, Focus, Mazda3, and probably others I forgot, all had/have it as an option.

vinyl looks really really nice and is very durable but may God help you if it's hot out, ur car isn't blackout limo tinted and you let 1 sq inch of your skin contact the seat
leather can be really fuckin uncomfortable on hot or cold days unless it is really, really well ventilated and at least looks difficult to repair afaik
decent cloth is primo even tho its considered lowly. its even the best couch material
