Half joke half real: I want to write a (very short) history of the N-world called "The Nigger Word."
It would be about that word, its etymology, the way social norms around it evolved (from nigger/Negro being a class/trashiness split to being a racism split), the euphemism-dysphemism cycle and the Orwellian Newspeak-like nature of it (Negro -> colored people -> Black -> African-American -> Black -> people of color -> fucking kill me when will I escape this wheel of dharma), the retarded hard-R debate Yankee wigger teenagers used to have, and the literal religious-level insane fervor that developed around it to the point that it became YHWH, the Word That Shall Not Be Spoken, the word that justifies blowing peoples heads off and has metaphysical power to mark one as evil or righteous.

I don’t read whatever kind of stuff you read, but it gives me the feeling as you described it of Little House on the Priairie and Straight Man (that one isn’t wholesome). In television it’d be 1950s sitcoms like Andy Griffith. Maybe your secret is to bend just a little to it being genre fiction. Set it in the 90s (our new version of Norman Rockwell America) when culture feels contemporary but before Internet became a mass phenomenon.

I really want to say something about this story I've been planning out but I can't figure out a good way to explain it without feeling like it'd be at risk of tying this account to it if I actually finished this thing.
I mean there's a good chance I never will but it still seems like poor practice.

I have however wanted to pick up Wani and make a mod for it that tries to retell Goodbye Volcano High but with an appropriation of Snoot Game's versions of the characters (I.E. better). But that's been on my backburner since before Wani came out.

I've been working off-and-on on a sci-fi story where Humanity is enslaved by demons who live in Himalayan salt lamps, and a tag team of future Jeff Bezos and future Heinrich Himmler are the only people who can stop them. Really though, I have been writing on and off my whole life, and I decided a couple months ago to give it an actual shot, so I’ve been working on a manuscript since about October. I write maybe 1200-1600 words a day and am hoping to be done the first draft in about a month.
