That triggers one of my childhood memories, I remember Curious George getting a tomato juice bath thanks to a skunk. It could've been in one of the books but I think it was an episode of the cartoon. The names coincide, maybe you're confusing a cat with a monkey?

I doubt it, but would it be one of the Eyewitness Books? I kept trying to look up Nat Geo to find them but completely forgot until I found the real publisher while googling. They had books on all kinds of topics both historical and scientifical. My dad would get mad when I read them (thought I would mess them up I guess?) but I loved pouring over every subject.
Edit: they also seemed to have made books on specific wars. Here's the WWI one.
Now for my own "what was that book", I distinctly remember a book series like this but a different company maybe? I remember they had some pages with crafts or recipes you could do at home. Like building a tepee, cooking aztec tortillas, etc.

I have never read said books but there was this strange book cover I remember from the 90's that featured what looked to be the grim reaper on the back of a dragon about to fight a knight. Another similar book cover was of a knight in a forest about to slice a bipedal and erect lizard creature that seemed to be hissing at him.

Kid's book written for maybe 9-11 year olds, published before 1985, I think the cover was orange, it might have taken place in one of the Scandinavian countries like Denmark, there was a school, and there was a bad fire. It might have had the word "Ghost" in the title but it wasn't a ghost story.
I usually remember everything I read, but this one's driving me nuts.

Okay, so it’s not a single book per se. But an author of children’s picture books popped into my head but I can’t remember what her name is, let alone her book titles. Probably wrote them around the 90s? She had a painterly, detailed art style. I think a lot of her books were set in Scandinavia or winter settings since I remember the art being cozy and having patterns and clothing from those cultures. The art used detailed borders a lot. Hedgehogs were also a common thing, though maybe normally as background detail. I feel like one book had a hedgehog sleeping in a winter glove. Maybe her name was Jan something?

I remember a pulp novel, sci-fi of sorts, about giant mutant scorpions(like actual rad-scorpions from Fallout) invading a small town in the US. A biker gang was passing through and started fighting the scorpions to get out. Can anyone figure out which shitty book that was? I think it was from the late 70's.

An excellent book that I would like to recommend to you is The Great Gatsby, which I recently discovered for myself and the title of which I could not remember, because I only remember the plot of the film that my friends told me. I read this one book about a kid and some kind of weapon. I think it was either a really early civilization of people. Like a small nomad tribe. I read it in 3rd grade. I remember there being a grandmother figure named Nora. And two chapters dedicated to the weapon and some flint and making a fire. There was also a chapter about a rite of manhood where the children were branded or cut with a small ceremonial knife. That's all I can remember about it. It might've been about Nomads or cavemen. If anybody can figure it out I'd appreciate it.

I remember this one book about a kid that goes to some magic academy (not harry potter, idiot) and it's a big honor I think. (Something with his hand or glove and runes?) He has some kind of power and somehow the school/academy gets burned down by him or something close to that. The title involved the word copper I think. it was the first or second book in a series

Ok, I'm not sure if this is an actual book. Pretty sure I read about it on of those, if you like x then try y type articles. I remember it as harry potter but underground. Or its fansty but the magical society is mostly underground in caves. The image that sticks in my head is of a tram thing traveling towards a city and its in a massive cavern.

1. I can not for the life of me remember the name of this book but it was a manga/comic book I found in my school computer class just sitting on the table. It was about a female pirate captain with battle scars and a princess?
She may have kidnapped the princess- I'm not sure. I remember them stopping some where and an old lady putting ointment on the pirate's scars. That's it. It was the first of a series and it was very VERY short.
2. This second book I remember even less. I don't know where I got it but it was a non-fiction story with a picture every couple of pages. I believe it was about a young boy travelling on a flying ship? Or travelling in a world with mythical creatures?
It had a map of the world in the first couple of pages I think.
I found it in elementary school.

Guy time travels goes back to the thirties and makes a killing by telling (very accurate) fortunes to rich people. Gives his final prediction of a huge war coming, packs his money and gold and returns to the present.
But in the present finds he walks through walls and can't interact with anything. Is he a ghost?!
Tracks down his father. Goes into his house, where he's dying, talking to a priest, and says:
"We were going to be married, but put it off once we heard a fortune teller said there was going to be a war. So never married.
I wonder what it would be like.. to have a son."
Never been able to track this story, but I think of it often.

Kid's book from the 90s or earlier. About a group of kids with a really nasty teacher who find a monster. The monster eats the teacher at the end and all the kids are happy and cheering. I cant remember the name of the book but the teacher looks terrified in the picture she got eaten and it fucking traumatised me at the time. This was a kids picture book.

The first one unlocked a memory for me. I remember browsing the Seven Seas Entertainment website a verrrry long time ago. They published manga/OEL manga and still do today. I remembered seeing a cover with a pirate and found "Pirate and the Princess: The Timelight Stone." It's the first in what seems to be 3 volumes.
Side note, looking at 7 Seas' old out of print comics hits me HARD in the nostalgia bone. They published some old webcomics like Inverloch and Earthsong that I read back in the day as a wee coffee druid. I'm going to go try to find those again.
That second description is very vague. And how do you mean by "non fiction" when it has fantasy creatures? Either way another image popped into my brain of a series I read as a kid. The Edge Chronicles. It has different sub-series but one I think focused on a kid and his dad who were sky pirates. Here's an example of the covers.
Chris Riddell's art is very distinctive. And I recall there being pictures peppered throughout. Here's a common map in the series:
I have no idea if this even answers what you're looking for. Regardless, this has been a very pleasant nostalgia trip for me.

Apologies for double posting, but I feel like it helps separate my own query. I got this manwha (I remember it was from a Korean author, not a Japanese one) for cheap from a book store years ago. It's at least 10 years old. Common trope of a girl gets teleported to a castle in a faux-medieval castle. There's a skinny, handsome knight guy with very long hair, even for a bishonen character. He seems kind of grumpy and I think wore a tabard with a lion design. The castle is pretty barren and there's either no one else or there's just a couple attendants. I don't remember all the plot but I believe at one point due to reasons they get married and the attendants really want to see proof that the marital bed was consummated leading to them maybe faking proof.
Trying to search "korean comic with long haired knight" brings up a crap ton of webtoons, which I don't want.
