This would've made her about 30 years old in the present day. She seemed be co-dependant and type who wanted to settle down and have kids at 18.

New York land and people wise is exactly like Wyoming except with new York city entirely separate and hanging off of New Jersey counted along with it. The population density and land prices are similarly cheap, once you take out NYCs metro. Keem probably brought it a long time ago and now figured out he could use it for something.
