The thing with Boogie is he lies as much as he eats. The second thing is that he is not creative in any sense of the word as we have seen him struggle to make content post Dez. When it comes to his past stories, theres always a nugget of truth in a mountain of bullshit he spews.
While im fairly positive there was no abuse at all, although maybe a harsh punishment here or there. In what could of realistically been a spanking for being a little shit, or no video games for a week cause he failed to study, Boogie will dial up the histrionics and equate those punishments to literal rape and sexual abuse. His siblings are doing much better than Boogie has (and will) so im sure he got some shit for not trying to better himself when he was younger so he carries that resentment. Even his "mom throwing him out of the car" story could more or less be him getting out of the car at school and his fat leg got caught and he fell. People who saw (including his mother) chuckled and he more or less wrapped that story around as him being thrown out to make people feel sorry for him rather than laughing at a fat person falling.
So with his abuse stories, none of it is true in an actual sense. If anything a more realistic and relatable story happened that Boogie is spinning to make it seem much more horrible so he is a special unique fatass.
I do agree with you to an extent, but there’s too much reasonable doubt for me to take a firm stance on one side or the other. I’ve seen situations where families had more than one child and singled one out for whatever reason while treating the other children normally.
A public example of what I’m referring to would be the Daddy o’ Five situation that happened on YouTube a few years back. I wouldn’t say that they were great parents towards any of their children. And to be completely objective, looking at what the adult son has been posting lately, the bigger picture seems more complicated than flat out hating one kid and showering the others with love, but it’s the closest reference I can think of in order to illustrate my point.
The son they filmed as the butt of their “jokes “ and “pranks” during their vlogs was treated like absolute garbage in comparison to the other kids and there was never really any explanation as to why. Maybe it was because he gave the biggest reactions, but that doesn’t excuse anything.
It was so bad that he was eventually taken away by the state, along with another sibling, while the others were allowed to stay. I’d also point out that a lot of the audience also didn’t seem to think that they were doing anything abusive or wrong, but a judge did and so did YouTube, so it really depends on who you’re asking. I think that proves that a lot of people see the things that were shown in those vlogs as ok because dysfunction is so normalized. Which kinda brings me back to my original point about Boogie.
That was a really long-winded way of saying that Boogie isn’t the way he is for no reason. He has a severe, untreated personality disorder that just keeps getting worse and worse. Some people are definitely born with more genetic potential for mental disorders or personality disorders, but early childhood development is where the line between functional and turning out like Boogie is drawn. Family dynamics play a really important role in severity of symptoms later in life and also how successfully someone can be treated. That’s why I’m kinda middle of the road on how much I believe him. I don’t think that he made all of it up, but I also don’t believe that it was as bad as he says it was. I think that for him, there was more potential to begin with and it was exasperated by whatever happened to him at the time.
