I just saw the doc. We need to get Null to put it in Happenings.
My thoughts: Boogie has been not only using Seeking, but picking up street whores. It didn’t say that outright, but implied it with scenes of a fat man in front of a motel.
His hatred of women came through loud and clear, as did his manipulation of Dez. That broken girl found the most manipulative, horrible guy. To comfort myself, I realize she’d have found that anyway and another would probably beat her. Just hope she doesn’t get knocked up. They are both stupid enough, even broke.
His money-mismanagement was also a theme. I did like the presentation, although I think Boogie was still lying about it. I don’t think it’s as dire as he makes it or even he wouldn’t be throwing money away on soundbars. (Well, maybe he would.). But it would not be Boogie if he didn’t lie, and a documentarian isn’t going to go far out from his source. A research journalist would pull records and stuff but documentarians kind of take things as they come and still manage to show their view, which I think Mike did.
I’ve never seen anybody take mushrooms but it looked fake.
Mike didn’t really touch on his internet addiction too much-just his friend saying he could get his viewers back if he didn’t say the “n-word.” It’s obviously much more complicated but I think Mike was going for an overview rather than every detail.
For the most part, I liked it. It exposed Boogie’s horribleness without spending hours on minutia we know and most don’t. It was filmed well and interesting with not a lot of screen caps to read. It was a hit piece, but a subtle one. I think he wanted to help Boogie to start, realized it was impossible, and had to change direction.
I feel bad for Mike that he included boogies brief moment shining star as the end as it gives a black life a happy overtone, but I don’t know how else he was supposed to end it.
I got bored and angry at Boogie manipulating that girl so I took a break from this thread. Saw Charlie’s video, and Charlie is always right.
That girl is going to have to get a job to support him and guess what Boogie wants to be? Pimp Daddy. That may be the next controversy. As an Arkansas 4, I’m not sure how much she’ll generate but I fear we’ll see.
