Unmatched Vibes.
We used to be a country.

Blockbuster, way more good memories between the two. Hollywood Video was cool and all, but it just wasn't as memorable for some reason. I miss them both anyway.
Our Hollywood video was cool. It had big movie theater themed carpet and paintings all over the walls. The ceilings felt super high. It was a spectacle

I used to bounce between both because they were VERY close together in the smaller town I grew up in. It was really cool because if one didn't have Yoshi Story, the other one usually did

But there were the dark days were both were rented out

My parents should have just fucking bought me Yoshi Story, I rented it so much they must have paid the full price of the game like 60x over

Family video but mostly because the nearest Blockbuster was 30 miles away & I don't think I've ever seen a Hollywood Video in my life, and because I'm on the edge of zoomerdom and Family Video stayed open long after Blockbuster and Hollywood had shut down everything.

The "CBD SOLD HERE" sign in the window isn't a joke btw. They sold CBD and I think for a little while they even sold vape pens as an absolute last-ditch effort to stay relevant. It didn't work.

I think we had a local, non-franchise one. I have no idea what it was called. They had some weird fucking anime. Heavy shit. My parents assumed it was for children because it was cartoons and I didn't know any better so by the time I was in middle school I had seen Ninja Scroll, X, Akira, GITS, and a dozen others I couldn't tell you the name of now.

I miss being a kid.
