I mean, it looks ok. However, I can't help going...

The movie is honestly a pointless affair. The character is dead. She's not coming back. The emotional punch of Endgame would have been harder if this was the gap movie....But it wasn't. It was Captain Marvel, which did so 'well' it actually terrified Disney of making her the center of the MCU.
I mean,
"This will further develop Black Widow's character!"
"....But she's dead."
"It will allow us to know what REALLY happened in <exotic location>."
"....But she's dead."
"Black Widow and their sister will create a strong familial bond!"
"....But she's dead."
There's really....I mean, when you know a character dies and are doing a prequel to the event of the character's death, there has to be something compelling. For example, at least with Darth Vader, it COULD have been interesting to see a gentle family man fall to the side of darkness. It was just bad, but the potential was there.
I just do not see any potential here, unless you end it with a twist, like in the original infinity war, anyone killed by the Soul Stone is trapped inside of it. Even Gammora. But I really don't see them doing this, so I mean, meh.
And there's no sex appeal in Marvel movies. Like Star Wars, they're basically sexless. So there's no point in watching it for fan service either. ScarJo isn't going to be waltzing around in Bikinis, especially not in cold as fuck Russia. So...why am I watching this? I just don't get the point of it now. You fucked up by pussing out and not giving her a movie ages ago and its now just too late. Marvel action I've seen for over 10 years and its gotten formulaic. There's no more character development since she died. She's not going to be sexy in it. The action is something I've seen before. I just can't figure out why I'd go see this.
The only interest I have if this reveals if they're going to bring her back or not. And I would spoil that myself, I wouldn't waste the time or money to see it. If there's a twist she's trapped in the Soul Stone and Dr. Strange and Elizabeth Olsen are going to do a prison break, fine, I'm in. But besides that...her arc is over. Her character is complete. I don't really need to see anything else, and knowing that this came after Endgame means I know none of this influenced the character because this never existed until now.
So....no furthering of any character because they're dead, no sex appeal, no real incentive for different action and a plot I'm not interested in. I can't really speak to other people, because other people might not feel the same way about characterization as I do.
Its kind of a shame, because this is basically low risk filler for after Infinity War. Kinda sucks they killed their best female character and made her movie a filler one.
I forgot to add one: There's no element of risk here. Black Widow nor Hawkeye cannot die or be majorly harmed in this film, because that's just not the case with Infinity War. The tension is effectively deflated as well. They're betting their stakes on these new characters.
