Not so much back in the day when he was caught, and stood trial. He was just too obviously the culprit to earn much public sympathy. He was a serious creepo.
But that was then, and this is now, and, of course, the podcast veered off into SJW conspritardland towards the end, at which time, I pretty much bailed.
The first part of the podcast was OUTRAGE Inc.- black activists and community organizers, playing the victim, and complaining about the police not caring, and not devoting time, effort and resources to solving the murders because the victims were black.
The second part of the podcast was a very thorough look into just how much hard work, time, and resources the police put into solving the case, despite the resistance and outright hostility they got from the black community.
The third part of the podcast was the modern-day "He dindu nuffin! Whitey framed him!"
Another thought on the Atlanta Monster podcast...
In the first part of the podcast, OUTRAGE Inc. gave their version of revisionist history in which nobody cared that black children were being murdered in Atlanta. Nobody in white Atlanta, nobody in white America, and not nobody in the entire white world. Whitey cared not a fig.
Yeah, but I was a white kid in white America back then, and, even though I grew up 1000 miles away from Atlanta, I absolutely remember when children were being murdered in Atlanta. It shocked the nation.
Remember the iconic "It's 10 PM, do you know where your children are?" That PSA picked up steam and basically went nationwide after a radio station in Atlanta started using it in response to the child murders. The message they were sending was "Black people! Please, for fuck's sake, watch your goddamned kids!" because all the kids who were murdered got snatched off the streets, because they were like stray dogs wandering around after dark.
I remember hearing the "It's 10 PM..." as a kid, and thinking "Ten o'clock? Damn, I have to be home when the streetlights come on. Who are these kids that are out wandering around at 10 at night?"
