That service is really just run by a mining pool, like any other. The normal way you ensure speedy transactions is jacking up the transaction fee, which requires some fairly trivial calculations, to increase the probability it goes into the next block. The service, though, is just one mining pool that gets blocks fairly frequently and guarantees a spot in one of their blocks. So you could end up waiting a while, but you are more or less ensured your transaction won't get blackholed.

This isn't an alternative to the normal system, but just a special implementation of it.

Also the block reward (i.e. actual BTC) gradually decreases through the entire mining cycle, so the network won't have to adjust to this suddenly.

If we extrapolate from current trends, and assume John continues to get twice as dumb with every tweet he makes, he will have consumed all the intelligence in the entire universe by next Wednesday.

I think it's a combo of a social justice echo chamber full of yes-men and legit mental illness.

Wu clearly has some symptoms of something like a persecution complex (blaming Gamergate for everything, years after it ended), narcissism (claiming to have fought the alt right and won), delusions of grandeur (thinking a congressional win is possible), compulsive lying (claiming to leave the house out of fear when you can see he's still there, saying Jace Connors was a legit threat, even after he acknowledged he was a troll, ect.), and paranoia (thinking David Pakman was performing a hit piece on him for asking tough questions, this China thing, moon rocks, etc.)
Seems like signs of some disorder or something.

It's a disorder but it's pathological lying. He rarely defends the most idiotic things he says, because on some level, he knows he's just getting called out for talking utter shit. He sprays a cloud of ink and flees, shrieking about mansplaining and goobergrape.

It's a defense mechanism, maybe even ingrained enough it's reflexive at this point rather than conscious, but John can tell when his argument is so dumb that the mansplaining shriek isn't going to get rid of the "how the fuck did you say something that dumb" mob and delete everything and run away.

The John Cycle:

1) Falsely proclaim yourself to be an expert in some field you know nothing about
2) Say something shockingly idiotic that will drop the jaw of anyone involved in that field
3) If anyone disagrees, scream at them that they're "mansplaining" even though you're a man and they're a woman
4) If that doesn't work, claim you said something else
5) When all else fails, delete everything and pretend you never said it

Is John aware that we as a species can always build more power plants, reactors, wind and solar farms, and geothermic wells? I mean, he markets himself as a high tech candidate but has no idea how electricity production works.
