Emmy-winning actor Bill Paxton died due to complications from surgery, PEOPLE confirms.

“It is with heavy hearts we share the news that Bill Paxton has passed away due to complications from surgery,” a family representative said in a statement. “A loving husband and father, Bill began his career in Hollywood working on films in the art department and went on to have an illustrious career spanning four decades as a beloved and prolific actor and filmmaker. Bill’s passion for the arts was felt by all who knew him, and his warmth and tireless energy were undeniable. We ask to please respect the family’s wish for privacy as they mourn the loss of their adored husband and father.”
Bill Paxton is a legend and a good actor. RIP Paxton

Beyond his obvious stuff, which he always fucking rocked, his movies like Frailty and A Simple Plan gave him some range. He seemed like a good guy, too.

No fucking way. That's just...that's just fucking nuts.

I'm generally pretty indifferent to celebrity deaths. Most of the time they're pretty old or drug addicts or former drug addicts that have wrecked their bodies. I guess surgery is always a crapshoot even in this day and age. Maybe he did, he did rise to prominence during the eighties after all, but I digress.

I can't believe Lance outlived him. I'm sure he's taking it pretty hard. The two were good friends if I remember correctly.
