Well that was rather satisfying after quite a few episodes of fucking around going nowhere. Every part of it mattered, didn't waste time, a good episode.

I do wonder if the scene of both of them together will be them in the underground lab working, while the camera pans under the ground into the lab showing the skeletons of both Lalo and Howard 🧐
 
All caught up. That was great, albeit predictable thanks to Breaking Bad existing. Lalo's plan and Gus was the highlight of it though. Smart people know how smart people think and how to write them and so on. The Salamancas really were his weakness, seeing as how close that encounter came down to. If it was anybody else not related to Hector, he wouldn't have sprung.

Also the point was that the Cartel doesn't trust his suspicious of Chicken man betrayal. So he doesn't really have a high network of cartel associates backing him up for this and it would cost his family dearly. Salamancas are high ranked thugs for the cartel, but they're not the cartel itself.

The underwhelming part of his death is how Vince literally sold Lalo as Juan Wick only to die in a showdown with Gus, patch hit at that exact same moment and Lalo was nerfed while Gus even got NV. But I guess the point of that scene is to mirror Gus's death in which he gets too cocky thinking he'd already won.

From Gus killing Eladio, to Walt killing Gus, to Jack getting one over on Walt and killing Hank, a running theme of both shows is how they get too comfortable assuming their underlings couldn't ever get one over on them an immediately paying the price for it.
 
I think Lalo's fate was implied from the start. By the end of Breaking Bad, it was implied that Hector was the only remaining Salamanca in the series, and since Better Call Saul is a prequel it implies that at some point Lalo, a character made out of a single throwaway line from Season 2 of Breaking Bad who was made to be a Salamanca, would die at some point in the spinoff series.

I really liked the little scene when he was cheerfully singing the company song while coming in to work. A rare moment of brightness in a really grim episode.

Lyle is a soyboy consoomer.

I really don't know what will happen to him considering how much screentime he is getting, i'm thinking Finger might kill him after he figures out who Gus really is.

My guess is Lyle is likely a college student and working this job when out of class. So by the time BB rolls around he’s likely graduated and onto another job for his career. I can bet his heart sank and blood ran hot when news came out Mr Fring, someone who he idolized and look up to, was a a major drug kingpin.

No soyboy consoomer is a hard worker. If he was one of those he'd have started screaming oppression the instant he was asked to do more than his job.

Doesn’t season 6 take place over the summer of 2004? 🤔 So If Lyle wanted to he could work full shifts in the summer.
