Culture Bernie Sanders cucks the Democratic establishment once again. - Runs as independent

On Tuesday’s broadcast of MSNBC’s “All In,” Senator Bernie Sanders (I-VT) stated that, despite winning the Democratic primary, he will run for re-election in 2018 as an Independent.

Sanders said, “I have always run as an Independent, and that’s what I will do. And I think people in Vermont understand that. We have a very good relationship with the Democratic Party. I suspect that this coming campaign we’ll be putting more money — our campaign will be putting more money into the Vermont Democratic Party than anybody else and supporting a whole lot of good Democratic candidates.”

Host Ali Velshi then asked, “So, you will decline the Democratic nomination?”

Sanders answered that he would.

Feel the Bern, round two, the gay unicorn bongaloo!

Hopefully this has the effect of Teddy Roosevelt vs William Taft, if only for the salt as a damn dirty Republican wins the Vermont seat. :optimistic:

Dunno, more Independents is better for the Republic overall. He's a good rep all things considered.

Is there a serious contender for Senator in Vermont for the republican party? I'm curious since it seems like a pretty left leaning state.

Looking at the turnout Bernie got 64k votes and Brooke Paige got just shy of 10k votes. Literally all the Republican Nominees got less votes than Bernie did in the primaries, combined.

Not like he can run as a Dem since they pretty much changed their own rules so no one else like Sanders can get in the way of their coronation of whatever establishment neo-lib again

Can't blame him. The Democrats screwed him.
Dems knew Hillary was going to be a hard pill to swallow for a lot of people. Bernie's entire purpose in the 2016 was to energize millennials and bring disenfranchised voters in from the cold. He ran a weak campaign against one of the most hated people in politics, who has more than enough skeletons to sink her her, saying the entire time he would take it to the convention. He went so far as to fundraise after the primary. Once the money dried up he gave it all to Hillary without a fight. In the Podesta leaks there was an agreement referenced that had stipulations about how the Sanders campaign should negatively address Hillary. Bernie "No Refunds" Sanders was in on it from the beginning. I don't believe he ever intended to win. It was all part of the dog and pony show that is US politics.

My prediction for the next "conspiracy" the media will try to spin to explain why the Democratic candidate lost will be, "Trump paid Sanders so he would run; allowing Trump to be reelected!" Just watch!

No no, Sanders is a deep state plant for the Russians and his whole role was to undermine Hillary and the Democrats from the very beginning ensuring that Trump would be secured victory even though apparently they had the technology to have every election computer in the country hacked at the same time anyway. Only I the r/politics redditor still living with mom have the godlike intelligence to see through such a fiendish plot.

Unlike all you bumbling backwards reckneck fools. I am more than a match for Putin.

Any takers on if Sanders will run for president in 2020 as well, on a independent ticket? (splitting the progressive vote)

If so what's the odds of him dying before the campaign by natural causes or by "natural causes"?
