Benzene in absolute ethanol?

I know benzene is used as an entrainer sometimes, but less frequently now. We have one bottle of “absolute for analysis” that has <= 2 ppm of benzene on the CoA (also a little methanol and IPA) but there is another bottle labeled simply “ethanol absolute” and the only thing on the CoA (other than ethanol) is water.

I’m thinking they sieved it or used glycol or something but I’m not going to risk, like, blood cancer.

If I drink it will I get leukemia? Please help I’m very bored.

There’s no methanol in this one and there isn’t enough methanol in the other one to cause an effect. The liver has a stronger affinity for ethanol than methanol IIRC. I believe USP grade ethanol is used to combat methanol poisoning
