This thread is to post videos or other information about the legendary Benny "The Jet" Urquidez, a professional martial artist that specializes in Kickboxing (he is basically one of the most important figures in the history of american Kickboxing) and who has also appeared in several Jackie Chan movies playing the main bad guy role, you can see some scenes here:

Here are some of his knockouts in a neat music video:

An old fight against Shinobu Onuki, which features an incredible spinning-back-kick at perfect timing & a match-ending throw:

Now in regards to the main focus of the thread, some of his teachings and techniques, check these out:

And of course this interview in which he shows some very interesting skills in my opinion:

One thing I've wondered about was that "Fight to the Death" thing he supposedly got roped into in Hong Kong.

The way I usually hear it, from Benny's own interviews and Youtubers, is that it was basically an underground MK thing running out the basement of a sleazy Hong Kong mansion. He beat up some guy, but refused to kill him, because what the fuck, right?

But I've also seen some stuff, clips supposedly from the match and interviews supposedly from the poor bastard Benny declined to kill, which make me wonder if maybe the "Fight to the Death" thing wasn't just some language barrier thing, and Benny misheard (or the announcers misspoke)?

For example, this article (which has since been deleted?) states that Benny's opponent, a fellow named Kong, was told by doctors, not that it was a fight to the death, but that he was going to die. Which sounds less like MORTAL KOMBAT SQUID GAME and more like the officials knew poor Kong was a scrub and were afraid Benny was about to murder him.

idk, I haven't looked into it that much, but if yinz Kiwis are Benny the Jet enjoyers, what's your understanding of this event?

Watching Benny's fights against the Japanese kickboxers is what taught me how to tease the range, bait a move, and then punch up a strong kicker while they're off balance.
