Met some dude off Craigslist to buy his gtx1070 for mining and joked that I hope he wasn't involved in BitConnect and he says no, but he's looking into this other lending service that also made 1% interest a day but it wasn't a scam like BitConnect... Some people do not learn.

That's why you don't take out loans on speculative things unless you're willing to live with very long lasting mistakes. Even the people that buy mining equipment often do it on credit cards etc and don't realize that the people who are able to profit have done so because they have no debt.
