The game is still going? I thought it declined horribly, what the hell??
EA and DICE are doing the absolutely bare minimum, since the game was promised to have 4 Seasons of Live Service, and so they don't get sued by giving on the game early. But rest assure, once Season 4 comes out, they'll run away from this game immediately.

They just said four seasons. They didn't specify how long or how much content each season would bring.
I predict Season 4 will be available next year.

Apparently, in the World of Battlefield 2042, over 40 countries have become failed states, due to climate change or societal collapse. The EU disbanded after Germany collapsed in 2035, leaving the US and Russia as the only remaining superpowers in the World, and both countries use No-Pats to fight their War against each other. In 2040, a Kessler Effect many orbital satellites to crash into the planet, causing a global blackout across the World. The US and Russia accuse the other of doing that.
Also, there are two factions of No-Pats, the first one being under Oz, who is trying to incite the US and Russia to fight against each other, and Irish's faction, trying to prevent Oz from doing that.
And there is zero mention about the state of China, because EA didn't want to risk BF2042 being banned there, like how BF4 was banned after the 1st DLC was released. Crawford's country, the UK, was also one of those failed states, as London is now flooded under 3 feet of water. How bad would the oceans have risen in sea level, for that to actually happen?
Also, how would the MI6 catch him, if UK became a failed state by the year 2042, and the EU collapsed years before?
Not that it makes the lore believable in any way, though.

Since China is unmentioned in 2042's lore, one could speculate that China started the Kessler Effect to get two superpowers to fight each other.
Is it the same Irish from Battlefield 4?

I don't think DICE was even thinking about China, when they were designing BF2042's lore. And yes, it is the same Irish from BF4. Rumor was that he was going to be involved more in BF2042's lore, but his voice actor and likeness, Michael K. Williams, passed away just a few months before BF2042's release, so those plans went out the window.

I've never completed BF4's campaign. I stopped at the raining China city level, then it deleted my progress.
As an aside, I've completed Gold stars for both the Thompson and 1887 in Hardline. That was an abnormal playstyle. Shotguns in Hardline can be inconsistent.

DICE also posted the 2.0 Patch notes. The SMGs have been nerfed, so that they don't outduel people at ranges where ARs are supposed to win at.

#8 looks like a ripoff of CoD: Ghosts.
Only a couple skins stand out, the rest look generic. I hope EA isn't charging for them.

The Battlefield franchise has turned 20 this year, and the goodies for BF2042 players are Player Cards. That's it.
And I thought the reskinned hot tub that Maxis and EA gave to The Sims 4's players during The Sims's 20th anniversary was bad...
