Here are some Behind The Scenes pictures of the cover art for BF2042:

This appears to be Rao, before his in-game look was changed for the final launch, for reasons unknown. And I wonder what the dog was there for.

And here's the staff that were in charge of the cover art:

There's also a funny bug in the SMG Rush mode, where you can throw projectiles, including C5s, up to 100 meters.

The green tint is distracting.
 
I imagine BFV is regaining players in hindsight after 2042 because it's the last Battlefield game that stuck with the tried and true formula.

Don't forget that Vanguard released and ended up WORSE than V ever could in regards to its WW2 setting. That's an achievement given 1) Vanguard is built on Modern Warfare 2019's foundation and 2) EA/Dice outright told people against their direction to "accept it or don't buy it."

I surmise people stick around with Battlefield in spite of its many launch issues because DICE created a great foundation with their class based system, immersive, but arcady gameplay and massive scope compared with other shooters in the market.
