Why no love for Callum?
Even if he's a Sargonfag, I think of him as a more socially adjusted Lord Miles.
 
Callum needs to invest in a hat and dress properly for hot weather climates. I noticed in quite a few of the videos, he gripes about how intolerably miserable it is, having to walk/hike long distances in hot weather countries, in the middle of the day, while carrying a heavy backpack.
 
I feel misled by the title of this thread. There's a few extremely blue-pilled travel vloggers where it seems like they're taking cash from some government tourism board to make the country seem fun and interesting, but not everyone is like that either.

I think the real reasons they're both beefing has way more to do with inside baseball type stuff within the gaijin expat youtuber community that neither would like to talk about than the actual topic of graffiti and homelessness in Japan. I don't know the whole story, and there's probably a lot of it that's BS, so I won't really go into depth about it, but the story is that Chris is kind of a gatekeeper who discourages others within his circle from collaborating with creators he doesn't like. It's effective because as she noted in her video, he's very well connected, and people want in on those introductions. He doesn't like polyglot youtube content in general, so Pearl's been forced to mostly collab with smaller creators. That said, I don't think Pearl taking this beef public was a smart decision. She got baited and bit down hard on it.
 
The beef is still on-going and taken an interesting dimension.
It attracted the attention of a Japanese streamer called Sora the Troll, who does light-hearted trolling content (i.e. not harassing random strangers and causing grief, just doing goofy shit and commentary with folks in on the joke) and both Pearl and Chris appeared in the stream chat on one his streams sniping at each other.

He invites both to appear on his stream and Pearl took him up on it.
Second stream
It's very awkward and cringe on Pearl's part. She's mostly known for not being edgy or trollish at all, so it comes across as forced humor at her expense, but it does show she can laugh at her reputation a bit. Chris shows up in the chat and immediately moves the goalposts and shows that he's actually been hate-watching her content for some time by honing in on a video she did that had uncensored children's faces in a Pimsleur sponsored video. I have no idea what video he's talking about, as Pearl has dozens of videos sponsored by Pimsleur, and she also has tons of content done with kids with their parents or in a class setting, so maybe there was one done without adults around? I don't know for sure and I'm not going to rewatch them all. Either way, Pearl responds to one of the comments with "What the fuck does that have to do with graffiti in Japan?", getting to the heart of the matter that the beef is a personal one and not having to do with the reasons stated.

It is undeniable that vandalism has been on the rise across Japan since the end of Covid. Japanese news reports this from across the country. I compared google street views from 2022 to today and found the graffiti problem is worse than I thought.
