But, I figured I could share some really, uh. Regrettable mods with you guys, that people sell... For real money.
Including one that was actually paid for, with a positive review.

I hate to be mean, and I really admire the effort, but these are from a technical standpoint bad.

One of the problems this hobby has is that many artists are just shit but because of the hug boxxy athmosphere, nobody would ever tell them or dare to criticise them. I ordered an azone pure neemo body at the end of October to put my doll onto. Everything was completely fine until the package actually arrived in this country. Then it all went to shit.

I went to the local delivery office to try and get my package since instead of being delivered, the tracking site said it got "retained" in a PO box there. Except there's a small problem with that.

I don't have a PO box. I've never had a PO box in my life.

So instead of being delivered like a normal package, my mail went to a PO Box that doesn't exist and no-one knows how that happened, why it happened or most importantly WHERE MY FUCKING MAIL IS. They printed out the tracking enquiry and gave me the manager's phone number and now I have to abandon all my morning plans in the hope that Jim on the phone in the delivery office can somehow magically locate my package, since he goes home in the afternoon so I can't ring the dude when I don't have things to do.

I am pissed with a capital F and I feel really bad too since if I can't locate my package and actually have it delivered I'll have to get a refund from the Etsy seller I bought the body from, who isn't at fault at all in this situation since everything was fine on their end.

For such a bitchy hobby it sure is hugboxy. The critique section of DoA and is literally nothing but people posting 'this is my first ever face-up, I promise' when it's clearly not true and all the comments are bland pleasantries. I mean, I know it says it's a 'safe place' (lol) but it also says 'critique'.

I really wanted, just because he' s so darn handsome. But then again, I didn' t have a character or body or even a place for him so I didn' t buy him. I already feel like I' m gonna regret that tho.

Because of the reasons you already stated in your post I pretty much gave up on fiving critique on DoA. Sometimes I want critique myself but I don' t wanna post there since it might come off as a show-off, since I' m unarguably already better than most posters in that subforum. And people probably wouldn' t give proper critique anyway

The hugbox mentality has allowed some unfortunate heads get released for order that otherwise should not have been. One that bothers me is pintsizedpalace's heads- she needs to work on evening out her sculpting abilities and learn to better control her stylization, imo. The sharp divets and oddly shaped noses aren't as endearing as all of her friends make them out to be.

Honestly, those look like they’d be better for puppetry than bjd. The over done stylistic facial features lend themselves to a stage setting, where a normal bjd features would be washed out or unnoticable.

Like these pics of the puppets from “Sound of Music”.

I wouldn’t call them bad, just not the style that’s generally seen, even in the unusual types like Doll Chateau.

Edit: I thought the first picture was someone making a Punch for Punch and Judy, but the nose curved the wrong way.

My pure neemo body did arrive eventually; it turned out the post office in this city didn't send me the lil grey card that has the info I need to pay a customs fee and were too incompetent to tell me I had a customs charge so it took me abandoning everything I was gonna do that morning to ring the manager of the place to sort it all out. I'm still mildly annoyed that half of the £16 I had to pay was "handling fees".

My doll looks real cute now, but I'm not at home so I can't grab a photo. I kinda fucked up swapping the bodies since the neck was a teensy bit too wide for me to get the head on in a way that the tilt neck thing worked right, so in the end I just ended up widening the neck hole with a craft knife and jamming it on there since I got real fed up of dealing with this shit. So she can't really look up or down, but the fact that she has joints now means that I don't care that much; I'd rather have an articulated doll with limited head movement than a pretty much unarticulated one that can look around, y'know? She's a playline doll anyway so if it ever annoys me too much I can just drop like £19 on a new stock doll to pull a Sid from Toy Story on anyway.

In other news, I've fallen in love with this basic line JerryBerry doll but it's fullset is like £230 and idek when they even restock since you can't just order them anytime anymore since they struggled with the demand, so now they make a limited quantity and open for a short period every few months and you have to be up at like 5am to buy stuff before it all gets bought up by Best Koreans. The trade off is that unless you choose to have your doll matte you'll get it faster since it's already been made, but that doesn't mean anything when I can't buy the bloody thing because the online store isn't open for 90% of the year REEEEEEEE-. I'm also a little annoyed that they've had ball jointed, strung resin bodies as an option since last year and they're still not considered on-topic on Den Of Angels despite literally being BJDs with painted-on eyes at this point ((unless you get the cheaper obitsu bodies)). I guess I'll have a better chance of getting it if it's basic though, since I bet most people will be going for those super expensive limited edition ones when Hell freezes over and pre-orders open again...

When they get too many orders they have everything shown as sold out. Right now it says through Dec. 18th. So try Dec. 19 or 20th to get some. It just depends on the month, I saw them for sale a lot during the summer.

MANNNNNN I hate how fast she bawwwleets shit. Thanks for the Tumblr link though! I try to avoid it as much as possible but I do like to check it occasionally. Doll tumblr is fucking amazing for drama.
On topic, I'm trying to sell two dolls right now and one doesn't have the original box or certificate. It's a scuplt that no recasters have as yet recasted but I already have 3 people in my inbox asking if he's recasted. Some of these kids honestly believe that recasts are made out of legit poison.

This this this! It drives me up the fucking wall! Someone in Asenva's group was fretting about getting a recast and I told them to do some research first and then some other mook came in and was like "If someone tells you you have to do your research then you know you're getting scammed." What the fuck? So you don't do any research before making an expensive purchase?

Recasters often use the exact same resin as legit companies... Not that that makes them quality, but at least be honest about bootlegs and let people decide for themselves smh
