I liked DOS 2 a lot, so I'm cautiously optimistic. The two biggest things they'd have to work on for me are:
1) Loot. Anyone who uses randomized, leveled loot should be executed and their families killed so that such a horrible bloodline can be erased. I think I've heard it was improved by the time of the Enhanced Edition but I only played DOS 2 when it was first released and that loot system was fucking awful, to the point where it actively hurt exploration and even questing since the rewards for doing so would quickly become obsolete after you gained a couple of levels.

2) The writing. While I actually thought the writing was good for the most part, there still wasn't anything as memorable as the Cult of the Unseeing Eye or exploring the Underdark. None of the companions stood out as much as the likes of Edwin (though, to be fair, a lot of his charm had to do with his voice actor and the great voice direction in general).

I do hope they aren't going to wokeify it. That was was wrecked Siege of Dragonspear, amongst other things. The inclusion of a character whose entire job was to be all "have I mentioned I am trans today?" and suchlike.

Honestly, I found it always funny how people put ADND2 on this pedestal, while hissing and glaring at those who prefer 5e, 4e and 3.5. Like, they make it seem like some sort of sin that the game became more streamlined letting more people to join and enjoy it.

3.5e was vastly superior to 4e, and anyone that says different is a faggot that got into RPGs because it was "the next cool thing", and for no other reason.

OT - Looks like it might be post Spell Plague, since there's Mind Flayers right out front. Wonder if the Aboleths will be involved?

DOS and DOS 2 definitely felt like they were inspired by older games like BG, and they were pretty fun to play overall. The writing wasn't the greatest. It wasn't actually bad, though, just a little lackluster. The gameplay is solid and pretty involved. Potentially unpopular opinion, but I think if they stick with their turn based formula instead of having combat in real time like the original series, it will be a lot better. D&D has a lot more options today compared to the older days and there are certain abilities that really only translate well into a turn based system. They could certainly be tweaked to fit a video game and I'm sure there are going to be plenty of concessions made, but eh, I just always found it weird how many games wanted to emulate D&D without using the turn based element that D&D is known for.

I understand the branding recognition with the name, but I think calling it Baldurs Gate: Weird Illithid Shit would go over a little better than calling it BG3. And there is still plenty of time for an official title to come out. Calling it BG3 just gives the impression it is a sequel to the previous games, since all those followed the same cast/story etc. There's been other BG spinoffs without the numbering, so it wouldn't be unprecedented. IMO, the story of Charname and friends is over. A few references and maybe even one of the long lived NPCs making a cameo is fine, but I'd be more excited to see a brand new series that does its own thing and can hopefully become just as iconic as the older games.

You might have CDPR derangement syndrome.

I haven't spoken about CDPR except the one time and most my issue is people overhyping them too much.

I do hope they aren't going to wokeify it. That was was wrecked Siege of Dragonspear, amongst other things. The inclusion of a character whose entire job was to be all "have I mentioned I am trans today?" and suchlike.

You mean a character you don't even need to give a rat ass about and all the "wokeness" was blown out the water, when instead you could call Dragonspear for various issues like the buggyness and the story being "meh" at best.

Only a few deranged psychopaths still pretend to like 4E. There's a reason why it only lasted 6 years.

@Hellfire did some extensive background snooping on Kevin VanOrd's Twitter (also known as @fiddlecub), one of the game designers behind Baldur's Gate 3, and it's not looking too stellar.

Edit: Somebody pointed out that one of the games in his profile, Divinity: Original Sin 2 turned out alright. I can't tell whether it's true or not, since I've never played the games, so take this with a grain of salt. Some pages were archived back during GG, so he was at least notorious enough to have his tweets archived.

I might edit this post if there's something wrong with formatting or some other issue happens, just point it out to me. I'm somewhat inept at this.

Ohhhh fuck.

We already became a god in Throne of Bhaal. The fuck are we going to do in a third game? Like, every other Bhaalspawn got dusted, right?

Also, you a dumbass if you didn't become as gods in that ending.
But will I be able to import my timelooped Kensia Mage who somehow turned Neutral Evil with he was originally Chaotic Good and retain that 25-constitution regeneration?

Baldur's Gate in game was set in 1369 DR (Dale Reckoning, 5th edition started in 1491 DR so a lot of characters are dead by then but fortunately Minsc was brought back but unfortunately they also brough back the """""Canon""""" version of Charname (the one from the horrible novels and pregen character in Tales of the Sword Coast, Abdel Adrian) who they used to make Baldur's Gate plot completly pointless because in Murder in Baldur's Gate (Adventure) set in where (5th edition made it Canon) that on 1479 DR, on Returning Day, his half-brother Viekang engaged Adrian in a fight in the Wide of Baldur's Gate's Upper City. The fight's winner was the last surviving Bhaalspawn and transformed into The Slayer, heralding the resurrection of Bhaal, god of Murder.

So remember all that time you spent in those games making sure Bhaal doesn't return to life? Ed Greenwood, Matt Sernett and Steve Winter went "fuck you" to that
why do evrything i like gets inevitably turned to shit? (:_(
