Baldur's Gate III Announced - ...and it's coming to Google Stadia and PC

It's all pretty vanilla except for frog girl (yes, I am pretending bear sex doesn't exist).

Even Minthara romance where they set this dark evil mood. You just cuddle and have a nice consensual blowjob.

Basically, nobody subs or doms outside of jokes regarding loviatar.
So frog girl gets the kink and you decide which way she goes.

They also gave her the most fleshed out romance path of any character if that means anything to you. Shadowheart romance is cute but sometimes it feels like they didnt actually expect anyone to pick her so didn't have anything prepared.
That would be funny if they really didn't expect people to pick the white Elf woman, aka the closest thing to normal in this game.

The trade-off for Shadowheart having an ultimately unfulfilling romance is that the affectionate stuff comes earlier. Whilst Karlach is affectionate, she can't physically display said affection until act 2 after you finish repairing her heart, whereas Shadowheart has a sex scene prior to heading into the shadowlands. Lae'zel is brusque and is very klingon in her approach to the 'relationship' to begin with and there's a gap between the end of Act 1 and Act 3 where there's not really any romance-related content, but she's similar to Minthara's where the conclusion and transformation of 'Steely heart bitch' into 'lovey dovey GF' that comes in act 3 makes her one of the better romances compared to Shadowheart. Due to outcry only Karlach got a proper cutscene ending though, the rest are just isolated dialogues in a room before the credits roll. Maybe in the enhanced edition they'll give other romance options the same treatment.
Front ended romance: Shadowheart
Back ended romance: Lae'zel and Minthara
Even distribution: Karlach
My ranking: Lae'zel > Minthara = Karlach > Shadowheart

From what I've heard of the male romances, it's: Astarion > Gale >>> Halsin = Wyll
The distribution of Astarion scenes is akin to Karlach I.E. there's a lot. Due to his story's conclusion taking place in act 3 is also has a proper payoff and similar to Karlach, the ending is also bittersweet if you take the 'good' option. Gale similar to Lae'zel, except there isn't really a solid conclusion. Halsin is a nothing character and Wyll is boring. Oh, and a nigger.

So the goblin/Druid after party “thinking of” bit is only giving an option for romance and not establishing who you go for?

There are a few hard crashes in act 3 you really would have thought they'd have caught before it went out yeah. Did nobody really try attacking a steel watcher during it's self destruct protocol to see what happens if you reduce hp to 0 while it's channeling? I've got all these free ranged attack bonus actions to shoot for fun so ofc I'm going to do it.
Maybe the PC version was better tested? I only had one crash, when I snuck up behind Ethel and initiated combat by nuking the resurrection mushroom.
just killed auntie i fell like a fucking badass

I found Shadowheart pretty bland, both in general and in terms of her romance. I think her VA does a lot of the heavy lifting, giving her lines more personality that another voice actress might've fucked up (or maybe the VA director deserves the credit).
I think all the VAs were pretty good. Astarion is also sort've surprising considering this is the VA's last major credit:
He's entertaining to listen to as Heisenberg but I wouldn't call him good. But in BG3 he knocks it out the park as Astarion.

I honestly want to keep him on my team more often because I like his character a lot, but having two thieves can be a bit of a hindrance.

Shadowheart struck me as a character who would fuck the player as a means to an end. Whereas with Laezel, it was a case of making the Angry Karen kneel for the D. "Taming the elected HOA representative" if you will.

To be fair, Lae’zel initially wants to fuck you become she got turned on by the player’s hyper violence. It just BECOMES “fix the Karen” later.

I started 2 parallel playthroughs. One with a friend as unga-bunga barbarian, another as sorcerer. While sorcerer is unremarkable, unless you count that he is thirsty for some underdark undergarments, unga-bunga has the following:
  • Pried open Shadowheart's pod with raw strength not looking for tablet to open it
  • Made goblin on outpost before desecrated temple eat shit. No euphemism, no synonyms. He ate shit and said thank you
  • Yelled at bitchy ginger druid to release the girl so effectively, that she shuddered
  • Received a modicum of respect from kithrak on first meeting
  • Aunty Ethel was decimated with speed potion, rage and a lot of crits
It probably doesn’t help that the bloodlines they went with for sorc are on the banal side.

Respecting him into a bard is viable. He has unique vicious mockery lines (like every other companion but I digress) and it doesn't seem too far out of character for the flamboyant vampire to be one. Or, hell, respect him into anything. You get to fill in the gap in your party and you get to bring him along if need be. He feels the most reactive out of all the characters, or maybe he's just like everyone else but his performance was more memorable. Him and Gale are the only characters who have some sort of reaction to their own deaths I think. Gale's is more involved but Astarion's is funnier.

Super underutilized character in that game tbh
Certainly the most interesting. When's the last time, if ever, a villain had a heel-face turn in the Resident Evil series? You could point out someone like Ada or the Umbrella Mercs in 3, but they were neutral parties who just happened to be doing stuff for the bad guys. I found him way more enjoyable to watch and listen to then any of the other cast.

Just wanted to thank you for the heads-up on this. I plan on romancing Astarion but I'm not a big fan of bittersweet endings, so I did some googling just now to see why that's the case with the "good" option. Shame his vampirism can't be cured, and that you can only get turned yourself if you choose the "bad" path. Oh well.

I was kinda surprised you didn’t get a bard as a companion character(besides that one on Dark Urge playthrough cause…you know), so I might actually do that.

Do I just take control of him in camp and talk to Withers?
