I'm still working through Act 1 but my Tav slept with Laezel and after you do so you have an option every time you speak to her to end the affair. I *think* that later there will be an event that will lock you in to a relationship but it's not happened yet.
You can let Astarion do the talking at the end of which he kills the gyppo in a cutscene.

Out of all the romance options I have sad femcel half-elf, rough as nails frog lady, glorious bastard demon, or superiority complex drow. Honestly all good choices.
Well, I’d say going evil, losing two and maybe three other companions permanently and losing a ton of sidequests from going evil is a lot more to do than any other companion, to be fair.
I usually hate romance and sex in vidya games but BG3 is funny in so many ways that I just roll with it honestly. It made me content with it.

Yeah that's how dnd usually goes levels 1-5 is agony in the sense of being unable to do anything 4-15 is where the real meat of the games are, and then 15-20 is so fucking rare and requires so much planning on both ends it's a rarity to happen.
It starts in act 3. Act 2 she is focused on killing Ketheric
Initiate conversation with her and there will be an option to talk about conflict with Ketheric and she asks permission to read your mind. If you allow it, there will be an option to think of her as lover. I had it after final boss of act 2 in camp.
I wound up turning the difficult down for some of the Act 1 fights because I can only play for a couple hours a day and didn't want to spend it locked in a single encounter for half my playtime.
I've run into this issue a couple times where the game will just randomly decide a party member should do the talking and it doesn't always happen in combat either. I think something bugs out when the NPC tries to force a convo and they accidentally select a party member instead of the controlled PC.
I'm flirting with Shadowheart while banging Lae'zel and from what I understand you aren't forced to commit until Act 2.
He's annoying, but his story is far from shallow.
Faggy vampire grew on me personally. He has a decent backstory and motivation, and somehow winds up having banter and dialogue that manages to be a bit quippy but not in an annoying millennial way, which I thought was a lost art.
