Thoughts on the best party members? I've kinda been swapping everyone out for a bit for the sake of levelling them up and am trying to keep things relatively balanced. I hear Lae'zel and Karlach are good tanks, but is one of them considered better?

I think Laezel can be made into a better tank.

I mostly use Shadowheal, Minthara and a third based on what the situation needs. Gale for Aoe, Lazael for tank, Astarion for lockpicking and ambushes.

Minthara is a damage focused paladin. She is a good tank and can hit like a truck too.

Can confirm when I was slaughtering the goblin camp with my ranger she insta downed Astarion. Funny thing is I got that war horn from a 20 roll on the ogres and used them once, then I convinced them I’ll pay 1,000 gold next time and went outside. Outside there’s a fuck ton of enemies so I sounded the horn again and everyone died including the ogre leader while the two other ogres ran away and I kept my gold. Needless to say I saved a lot of gold and made a lot of gold while getting great armor and trinkets.

I kinda don't mind Minthara being that good. You are trading her 1 for 3, so she better be worth it. While my mods are mostly graphics, so shouldn't impact this, but she can deal up to 30 damage with a smite, and unlike Karlack you can put heavy armour on her too. I gave her the Adamantine Splint armour and she is doing pretty well with it. You could however try to mimick this with Karlach and the golem helm that disables crits. Or whichever helm that does it too.

Última edición:
Bear rage giving Karlach resistance to all damage is pretty nice combined with her large hit pool. I ended up making Shadowheart ridiculously tanky by giving her gloves that set her dex to 18 and one of those medium armors that add your full dex modifier. There are a couple of pieces of equipment that give +1 AC so with those I was able to hit 25 on her by the end.

how do you improve stats then, my warrior only has 8 charisma fuck that
There are feats to improve one stat. There might also be equipment or items that will help. If you need to roll a check for charisma you can use another character in your party or use a buff like Shadow heart's guidance to add to your roll. But mostly you are going to have at least one stat that is really bad like that because there aren't enough points in the game. If you are a fighter then your main stat is gonna be strength. If you multiclass however then you might need to focus on upping another stat.

I'm playing a sorceress/bard but they both use Charisma so I don't have to worry about upping another stat. My strength is only like 8 or something...

Fighters also get more feats than anyone else so they can actually have pretty good stat across the board by the end of character progression

Laezel:
Paladin 6 - for the saving throw aura, armour and smites
Bladelock 5- use Cha for attacks, heal on kill, spells used as extra Paladin smites. An extra attack.
Rogue1 - for Persuasion and Deception expertise.
Stats. 8 str 10 Dex(wants to wait for haste) 16 con(concentration saves) 12 int. 22 Cha (the mirror gives an extra 1 cha to the PC )
Traits: asi, big weapon fighting.

Karlach
4 thief 8 beserker. Dex is super high, uses amulet/gloves for con/str. Lots of bonus actions, and can handle thief stuff.
Traits, ASI, Athlete (for super jumps and more dex) big weapons.

Gale
Lightning Sorcerer
Wears Helldusk armour
Traits: Alert (make sure he goes first to either dual haste, or nuke the enemy before they have a chance to act), Two weapon fighting (stack the bonuses of two staffs plus extra AC), ASI

Shadowheart (Boring)

So far my permanent party has been Shadowheart, Astarion, Lae'zel or Karlach (but I got her super late because it meant talking to Wyll who I hate so I prefer Lae'zel)

That trio seems equipped to handle most things with my paladin/warlock lead.

I actually picked up Wyll specifically so I could go grab Karlach almost immediately after.

I planned to grab her but wound up doing the main conflict with the goblin camp almost right at the start because I wandered that way first. By the time I'd grabbed her I had saved the grove and I think I fucked up her quest because the Tiefling meant to fix her chest problem moved already. Oops.

She's a bit too much wholesome teddy bear that says fuck a lot for my tastes so I prefer Lae'zel for my big smack needs.

Ah, I see. I’ve been specifically avoiding going straight for the goblin camp since I know there’s a ton of alternative and side stuff around, so I hopped the river and got her before entering the blighted village.

Still haven’t gone to fight the group she was after though, I’m currently in the swap trying to figure out the best way to fight the respawning wood imps and those healing bark dudes.

Appreciate the input. Astarion is practically a permanent member of my party despite my initial hesitation, really like his skills and I wound up getting his approval/trust easily enough. I greatly prefer Karlach to Lae'zel character-wise but I might alternate between them. Don't have strong opinions on Wyll, I like Gale for his AOE but he tends to get targeted and downed the most. Does he have the lowest HP?

I’d honestly use Astarion more if I wasn’t playing his exact class. I like his personality, and Gale’s got a likeable “smart git”-ness to him. Will’s a bit one note, but I’m interested in his storyline, I haven’t hung out enough with Karlach but she seems fun. Lae’zel is okay right now, she was being too much of a bitch at first but I’m warming up to her as she tones it down a bit, and Shadowheart has a bit of a “hidden sense of humor” that makes me like her. But I’m still early in act one, so who knows what might change.

Also this.

Multiclassing is gay
nah man
dipping in this one class that gives a stat buff that stacks with all other buffs, taking a level in a completely unrelated prestige class that lets you bypass feat prerequisites, somehow becoming a monk in the middle of your adventure, and awakening a draconic bloodline you've had all along just barely is great because slightly bigger numbers

I can't blame people for metagaming because I dump the shit out of some stats and pick some broken feats/traits/backgrounds in these games too. Class dipping and multiclassing is another thing entirely. The foundation of your character itself is getting pissed on. Unless you're going for a mystic theurge or prestige class, it looks and feels so dirty. The abominations I've seen in the pathfinder circle in particular make me want to die.

I am afraid that without extensive level modding, multiclassing will break my class and wall me off from strong high level abilities.

Wyll is a warlock, they can get useful spells.

Gat the 5e spells + bladesinger + whatever monk mods there are trust me:

-Gale + bladesinger + monk + wet + shocking grasp fuckfest. So my MC build but he uses staves.
-Gish Lae'zel (2h Bladesinger + thief + bonus action psychic ring) + listen to laezel bully enemies to death
-TWF Smite Crit Karlach (Barbadin) [if you have a lvl 20 mod, get thief and equip at least one light weapon]
-TWF Lifedrinker Wyll with smite pally dip (10 Warlock + 2 Pally) [Get the thing that gives you an extra ba while doing fire damage]
-Bardstarion (Lore Bard (get the healing prayer ASAP + thief dip + duped ba psychic ring)
-Pure Light Cleric Shadowheart (fuck lore, light cleric bry gud).
-Spore + Monk Druid huge man
-Beastmaster Ranger + Druid it's fucking her again druid.
-Barbarian dip + Hunter Ranger + 2H It's my fucking booooiii again hampter.
-Dark Elf Ass

My favorites are Kung fu wizard gale, Bardstarion, and TWF dervish self immolate wyll. And I just use invisibility on all four of us for a free surprise round so they can air elemental summon bullshit (they can fly as a movement, teleport as a bonus action, and their default attack is a range). Big issue is with only 12 levels you lose out on a feat (since the level layout is 9/3).

True but warlocks have infamously shit spells in PHB for mystic arcanum or in general since you don't get lvl 5+ spell slots but spell-like abilities. So you can do well with just leaving warlock at like lvl 9 and then multiclassing.
