In act 3, when you go to the circus, you can pick up a pretty great trident for throwing if you're into that kind of thing.

You can talk to Akabi, the Djinni, to spin the wheel first and you notice he's cheating. Pickpocket him, take his ring, and spin again. He'll then accuse you of cheating and if you tell him it's only fair, or something along those lines, he teleports you to a jungle with some raptors. The chest by the portal out of there is where the spear is. I just pickpocketed him from the start and took the ring to avoid having to pay twice to spin the wheel.
I gave it to Karlach and it's fucking incredible. Yeah she hurts me with it sometimes but it's worth it lmao.

You know I genuinely wonder if anybody would be interested in a Kiwi Farms D&D game.

Nothing gay like CWC as the BBEG, but just a group of Kiwis playing.
I’d be down. I never managed to play a D&D game just because of scheduling and being a massive introvert growing up. Closest I got was a group online where we got all characters all set up and everything but never managed to get to the first session.

Sweet, we'd have to get a few other people but I'd be down to run a game.

I'm a bit of a faggot for admitting this but I tend to prefer the roleplaying aspect of d&d as a player and dm - I can't get into a story unless I'm playing the character, just sitting around and rolling dice and asking "I got a 20, does the goblin tell me where the king is" doesn't do it for me.

That’s be the type of game I’d want to play, although obviously you don’t want to go overboard with it. Part of the fun always seemed to be getting involved with the story/being inventive with how you solve a problem or get around something.

The best session I ever played as a player was when my LE Necromancer was able to rub the deaths of a thousand people that the LG paladin caused by his hard-headedness and code of honor in his face and say "See all these dead soldiers and civilians? You caused this. I could have saved them but your morals and code of honor prevented me."

Can't do that in a roleplaying game that has no roleplaying.

Also, back on topic, but I learned that the reason larian had Viconia deVir be evil and totally threw out her character development from BG 1 &2 is that some faggot writer from WoTC wrote some horrendous novelizations about the games and disliked her as a character so he purposefully ruined her. Jeremy Crawford and Mike Mearls apparently were insistent thst this unpopular, poorly selling book series' canon had to be followed.

Gave it a pirate after DLing it all day and oof- not my cup of tea. Obnoxiously difficult even on easy, clearly 'best' classes and if you are dumb and make a 2H warrior you're wasting your time.

Thanks for the input but gunna give this a hard pass, not my kind of autism.
if you can't make 2 handed work you're just actually shit

Silly question, but from what I remember in older D&D versions is that Mindflayers are big dick enemies that have threat levels of like 15-20ish, how does that game address this with such a low level cap?

The ones you face off with in the prologue are either already mostly dead or fighting against actual Hell, and some are already dead at the beginning. As to why they’re like that and how strong they are later, I can’t say, I haven’t gotten that far yet.

5e mind flayers are about CR 7 so they're considered a challenge for a party of 4 level 7s

Thats kind of disappointing, mindflayers being such a high level with their ability to stun and eat your character that dumped Wis was terrifying.
i'm pretty sure they were always around that level it's only when you're dealing with whole colonies of mind flayers and elder brains where it becomes an actual tier 4 threat
