That's exactly the problem, she's a demonic killing machine written like a 21st century redditor.
She's the only character who's dialogue outright sucks. I keep her in the party because she's strong but I don't like want to hear anything she has to say. She doesn't fit in at all. No other character is like that. What makes it not a total disaster is the fact that in any other modern game, she would be the main character, talking like that. Every other character would talk like her too, but even worse than Karlach in bg3.

Yeah larian pulled a todd howard, not really surprised. Especially since they cut corners with the lvl 12 cap, when there's enough xp for at least level 15.
And the whole "your enemies are level 16-19 thing".
you don't wanna play lvl15 in 5e, there's a reason most campaigns cap off at 12-14.

Downloaded it from torrent without any hope to like it and...actually liked it. I don't care much about the story so it's just "killing things" to me, but hell it does satisfy my old-school RPG thirst. The game feels like something from 2010-s when studios still did games not garbage. Probably gonna play it a week or two and if my opinion doesn't change buy it on Steam. Seems worthy.
try solasta or zoria

Wouldn't be surprised if WotC forced this on Larian since the only other game of theirs that I played is Dragon Commander and the only woke thing I remember from that game was the white lesbian character.
larian is plenty pozzed on their own, they don't need wotc for that. they've been kvetching about players making human characters years ago. watch the definitive edition outright remove or nerf those options...

Some more things Solasta did better than baldur's gate 3:
  • Dice rolls during combat and skill checks. It's more visually appealing. To me, at least
  • Scavenger guild mechanic. If you miss some items in area, there's an option to collect it later without visiting that location and scouring it for items. And you can sell it right there
  • Better camera and pathfinding
I trudged through Solasta, but I definitely prefer Baldur's Gate 3. I'll give props for a small company making a game, but the character models were uncanny and not all the skills were utilised in the main campaign,
Not as far as I can tell. There might be a keybind I'm not aware of, though.

In other news, someone did a speedrun of how fast it takes to get Lae'zel to bed the player character.

The speedrunner above, Mae, beat their own record: this time a little over two minutes.

well, you wouldn't have to run it I guess, but it's probably as much fun as playing pathfinder on unfair...
The problem isn’t that the campaign isn’t 1-20 the problem is they couldn’t even bother to implement lvls 13-20. Cuz muh spells.

Ignoring the part where they got rid of shit like suggestion and rezzing npcs in the first place.

The thing with prior definitive editions is that Larian made them on their own games which they published on their own. If they want to make a definitive edition on BG3 then they'll have to ask for permission from the rights holders, which are Hasbro and WotC. Since they released this game in the condition they did, I'm inclined to believe Hasbro probably wanted them to just get it out there or they were under contract to release it by now. That said, they made Hasbro a lot of money, so Hasbro may let them release a definitive edition down the line if they can convince them.

Just don't think it's a guarantee.

I'm more mad about not being able to rez npcs than about not having 20 levels. DnD levels are by design choice more powerful and yet too spare, much unlike most rpgs games.

Finished my first play through the other day. Ran with diviner for the entire run, which they have made even more powerful in the game than it already is in 5e. Now after a short rest you get little prophecies like, "use a scroll" or "deal 1 point of thunder damage" to get back a portant die. I'm also a powergaming asshole so I took that lucky feat too. At that point I just kind of dictated die rolls so things like hold person became automatic and that important hit on an enemy with 5 hp always landed.

Lots of cool story stuff through the entire game, can't think of a portion I didn't enjoy one way or the other. The one thing I was worried about was Act 3 not being long enough but I think it was the longest act for me just because of the sheer amount of NPCs and side quests they have hanging around. The final few fights are pretty tough, feels like a solid end once you've done everything you wanted. I'm glad they were able to stick the landing so well.

Troonshine, not even once.
Completing the game in less time it takes most people to select a character is genuinely impressive, no matter their gender identity, but then 'she' does video after video about getting frog porn.

its mostly check off woke requirement. gay couples, women in position of power, muh poor migrants etc.
I can deal with that. But can it be avoided? If I can I will just avoid it.

I don't think there should be any "romance options" in games anyway. It's pretty cringey and pointless. Removing that kind of garbage would cut out a lot of the faggotry.
So, basically, every Larian game ever? I am certain that there will be a Definitive Edition for this game that restores a lot of the cut content just like with all the other Larian games. Just hate that this game was clearly unfinished but they rushed it out in order to not compete with Starfield.
Also, the reason a lot of content was cut may be because Larian lost their second studio in mid-development for Baldur's Gate 3.
There are multiple versions of their games on Steam. I bought the enhanced version of Divinity Original Sin on Steam years ago. I just haven't played it yet.

A black woman manages to like the game and deem it problematic in the same breath, while comparing black people in real life to hellspawn:

Let's not forget that players can play as black or otherwise dark-skinned characters that don't face this issue for not being descendants of devils.

Seconding this; I would like to give the game a shot eventually, but is there any way to avoid a lot of the cringe shit?

Also wanted to ask; does anyone recommend any classes at this point? I was considering Paladin, Monk, Sorcerer, and Barbarian; not sure which to choose, any suggestions?

It is possible to, instead of saving the xenophobic hippies and devilspawn refugees, slaughter them. About a third of the playerbase has chosen to do so so far.

Playing Bard right now and I gotta say I love some of the class-specific dialogue options it gets. Among those four it depends: what are you hoping to get out of your PC? High AC? Extreme damage output? Easier skill checks?

Might posting specifics? Give some names on who to go after in-game?

Honestly, I'm looking for something with good survivability and solid all-around utility. I don't exactly know too much about BG3's combat as of yet - I was going to be getting it on PS5 eventually - but in other games, I generally prefer to get as much health/armor/defense as possible, grab a big sword, and just walk right in. I do generally try to investigate and learn as much about the world as possible, and generally play "hero-like" in RPGs; protect humanity and show restraint when needed. Granted, with BG3 having wokeshit in it, I'll probably be taking heads pretty frequently.

From what I've read on the game so far, it does look like Paladin/Oathbreaker is my most likely class, but what do you suggest?

You're more than likely to come across the druid grove first before the goblin camp. When you do get to the camp, find the drow paladin Minthara and tell her where the grove is and that'll get you started on a path to slaughter the grove inhabitants.

⚠️ Doing this will lock you out of a companion as a tradeoff to gaining another one, and some of the other potential companions find it deplorable. It will also end a lot of questlines in later acts that involve the tieflings, so keep that in mind.

If you're looking for great AC I'd recommend a class that can wear heavy armour and shields like the Paladin or Fighter, but Barbarian and Monk can also attain high AC with high ability scores in DEX and either CON or WIS (for Barbarian and Monk, respectively). If you want to squeeze some more defence you can become a Battlemaster Fighter with Evasive Maneuvers or a Monk's Patience Defence to force disadvantage on attack rolls against you.

For "all-around utility" I assume you mean passing as many skill checks as possible dialogue-wise? Usually if you're more combat-oriented your exploration skills aren't going to be as great, especially social. Paladins are decent at that with CHA, but you're going to have to balance that carefully with your other abilities like STR and CON (DEX isn't that important if you're wearing heavy armour).

🔰 Keep someone in your party who can cast Guidance (usually this is Shadowheart). I can't tell you how many times this cantrip has come in clutch to passing important skill checks.

I'm halfway-ish into Act II and I haven't seen wokeshit. The characters aren't preachy and there hasn't been any allusions to modern social justice.
