We don't have a thread on this trash fire yet? When Balan Wonderworld was first announced, a lot of people were excited. The director, Yuji Naka, had worked on Sonic Adventure and NiGHTS into Dreams. And it looked promising, Balan's design was pretty neat and maybe it would be some sort of spiritual successor to NiGHTS?
And then the demo came out. And it was... well. It wasn't well received, to put it lightly. The game came out and there was a patch that slightly improved things but it was basically the same game.
And it flopped. Just over 2100 copies TOTAL sold in Japan (physical sales across all platforms, and it was released for every current platform.) In contrast, Monster Hunter Rise (released on the exact same day as Balan Wonderworld) has sold 1,579,736 physical copies in Japan and it's only been released for the Nintendo Switch so far.

And we haven't even talked about how the final boss fight in the unpatched version of the game can cause epileptic seizures, giving you a game over in real life.

Or about the mysterious 10/10 user reviews that began to appear on Metacritic shortly after release. That are definitely very legit and not at all bots.

But maybe you think this is all unfair, maybe you agree with the bot reviews and think this game is the best game ever made ever in history. In which case you'll fit right in over at the Balan Wonderworld fan community, which is... exactly how you'd expect it to be.

Ah, that's actually a very good point, I was just shocked at the contrast and it was the only game I knew that released on the same day. Still, absolutely horrible choice to release it on the same day as Rise

Found a video of what is probably the worst costume in the game "Box Fox." It randomly turns you into a box "when it feels like it."
You can't move at all as the box and just slide in whatever direction you were going. So this happens.

Yes to both questions, this is what happens when you combine Arzest with Yuji Naka’s obsession with making one button do everything. Arzest developed such CLASSICS as Yoshi’s New Island and Hey! Pikmin.
