I don't know if this has been suggested, I don't see a thread with this idea so I'll just get my idea out there. Instead of the reaction score, every new user starts with a bronze kiwi bird. The more points you get the higher your kiwi rank goes. This is more descriptive than the negative or positive reaction score. If you are already a user, you get the badge with your rating.

bronze kiwi = 0silver kiwi = 1,000platinum kiwi = 5,000gold kiwi = 10,000diamond kiwi = 20,000godly kiwi = 50,000

But if you get negative points, you get negative badges.

trashcan = -100turd = -500indian flag = -1,000pentagram = -5,000

Is this a good idea or am I retarded?

Here's a template we can use. As luck would have it, the pink one is already in use.

I'm not sure it's needed, but if it was to be implemented, my only suggestion would be that instead of tying it to a flat score it should be tied to a percentage of your posts. That way people aren't trying to get better badges by mass posting and deliberately farming positive reactions. As stated, it sorta creates the same problem reddit has with karma farming.

We already went through the rating changes not that long ago, we don't need more retardation and crying from people directly tagging null. Let the poor slobbermutt work on what's important instead.

People are already incredibly gay about reactions. This will only make it worse. I think the system is fine now. It allows people to react to a poster, but has no real effect. Continuously shitty posters already get a pink triangle.

I have reaction notifications turned off. I will never see 90% of the reactions I receive, and I like it that way.

Forums I used back in the day had "badge systems" but they weren't replacements for existing things but rather little interesting addon gimmicks like "oh this person went to a meetup with other users so there's a tiny badge under their profile pic in a little extra box line saying that" or the much more elaborate one of a now likely very dead Nintendo fan forum from the latter 2000s where you had "item shops" on people's profile where you could upload your own little png or gif or whatever as a badge to sell to others and little forum games that could add status effects to other people using certain ones. Said old Nintendo fan forum also did the majora's mask moon thing we've done here a few times now in an almost exactly identical way which sometimes makes me wonder about potential overlap in userbase.

...it also did a fake forum deletion/hijack event which made the site buggy and unusable on purpose I did not enjoy that very much no sir.

Anyways ramblings about interesting old Internet forum antics aside I don't think I like this badge system too much comparable to the others I've encountered!

Última edición:
The system as is I believe is good. I'd be WAY too obsessive over high scores if being positive or negative wasn't the end-all, be-all.

Don't give autists more of a reason to care about reaction score
