I'm not convinced asexuals even exist. Maybe there are some rare genetic mutants or groin disease victims that have zero sex drive, but not some faggot-ass Tumblrite who wants attention.

I have posted about this before, the issue is their frame of reference.

I have several friends/coworkers who cannot go more than a month not being in a relationship no matter how toxic. I have a good friend who if he isn't getting laid every week, starts to get 'hangry-but-sex' and starts PMSing until he finds a slampig or booty calls a toxic ex and she'll ruin his life for the next two weeks.
Meanwhile I like getting laid but if she looks like Amberlynn I'm fine jerking off instead.

Add to this, most of these people are hanging around Discords full of groomers and gooners, posting "Mommy please step on me" shit 24/7. Like every character in whatever media they are consuming they are writing pages of sexual fantasy and sharing it.

So if I was an internet addicted shut in low-social life with little experience with real people, and people like this or my Slampig hunter friend were my sole frame of reference for human sexuality, I would also just assume I was also asexual.

I've maintained for years that most "asexuals" aren't really, and it could be better explained in one of a few ways:

• Low libido due to disorder/medication
• Unaddressed sexual trauma
• Cope for being repulsive to potential partners
• Gay/lesbian person pretending to be straight
• Teenager in an oversexed environment
• Hangups around sex/relationships

There are some people, like Nikola Tesla, who never have sex and don't have any interest in it, but I think those people are very rare and AREN'T the overwhelming majority of "asexuals" online who read shipfic, masturbate, have kinks and fetishes, or have sex sometimes.

And honestly I think people like Telsa weren't so much asexual as they never met the right person. I liked making out and petting in highschool but didn't have much interest in "dating" until I met a girl who had a lot of my same nerdy interests and then as they say "all the songs made sense". Telsa I think there was about 0% chance of him at that time meeting a woman able to reach his intellect enough to hold his interest.

I think I've said it before in this very thread but, at the risk of repeating myself, asexuals means, "I'm asexual for you, not Chad Thundercock".

fr though, while I'd never call myself asexual, it did take me a long time to realize that everyone else has the pursuit of sex in mind at all times and in all interactions. It's up there with 'I am hungry, and need to eat something.' Never understood how guys go for slampigs until then.

Which is a shame. QC was my 'Pitchfork' as a teen, so I could say 'Pitchfork? Nah I get my music recs from a webcomic.' Like a very cool guy.

So, to my shame, I bought the first four collections (Jeph was lazy about them, rather than reading them back and finding a good stopping point, he just did 300 strips, which means sometimes the book ends in the middle of a storyline. Number five would end right in the middle of Marten and Dora's breakup). A couple of years ago I found and reread them and what struck me was how many of the bands I now knew about. And not from QC, I'd heard a song from a show, or a friend recommended one to me, and I'd completely forgotten they were referenced in QC.

And my tastes are pretty fucking normie, Jeph's must be as well.

From what I've seen, some people genuinely believe in hookup culture and going to a bar to get laid every night. That's not typical, in fact most people don't do it. But even before we had tiktoks of girls talking about their body count being over 500, you had Hollywood claiming there were dudes out there scoring a new chick every night. And the ones that weren't were so horny that any female attention, even the most sophisticated man.

This scene for example, sure you might have some trouble keeping your eyes on the paper but most dudes wouldn't react the way Frasier does.

But much like women who watch Sex and the City and demand that lifestyle instead of understanding it's supposed to be a fantasy, some people genuinely believe that's how they're supposed to act. And if they don't, they must be asexual. Otherwise, they'd have to admit that Hollywood lied to them.

Which isn't a bad webcomic, per se; full of lefty bugbears - but differences in opinion does not a bad comic make. (And he does warn you up front that it is literally 'a comic with too many words'.) But Rowntree did go on to make a stilted animated series of his comics with Cracked.com of all things. And the dialogue, for whatever reason, becomes a thousand times more insufferable once spoken aloud.

That one actually is decent and not up his own ass. It has a female main character written like a career-minded person instead of m'lady he's trying to impress, and makes realistic points about how your past shapes your decisions and self-image as an adult. It's just very beginner-ish in terms of technical art and writing. I would definitely hand it down to a teenaged relative if it was a physical comic book in a box of my old posters and shit.

And the dialogue, for whatever reason, becomes a thousand times more insufferable once spoken aloud.

Cracked pushed his stuff for years, way back when David Wong and Cheese used to write for them. I remember people would complain about how wordy and unfunny his shit was. I can't say that I'm surprised to see that they had him do an animated show with his stuff. Wong would get pissed at people not liking the comics that they would promote on Cracked. Same thing happened when they posted a bunch of White Ninja comics.

At one point I started submitting articles to them but I think it was right after Wong had stopped and their fall into SJW stuff had begun. They never accepted my submissions but they did steal and repurpose a bunch of it. Cunts.

I didn't read the webcomic regularly, but the ones that were shared to cracked (and a few others from the main site) were great for reading and finding all the little details. It was like a Where's Waldo with a point.

I was once interviewed by Cracked, but as far as I know it never got published/never went anywhere. Kind of a bummer, but I get it. I used to read Cracked constantly, had tons of articles saved. This comic might be closer to Epicurus, who notoriously loved pots of cheese, but philosophers like Diogenes and the Stoics, like all Greeks and Romans, loved cheese. And a lot of them had ideas like "we should live according to nature".
There are actually mixed sources on Diogenes's attitude towards finer foods, in some cases saying he gladly accepted cake and saying the best tasting wine was "someone else's wine", other cases saying he refused luxury foods and wonder why slaves watching their master eat gluttonously didn't simple take their food for themselves. When asked what philosophers eat, I guess just was just like "bro we eat whatever else eats, what kind of stupid question is that?" No matter the case though, cheese and wine, despite it being a bit unnatural, was a necessity of life, and Diogenes, like all those who are counted amongst the wise, knew this.

There was a split in followers of Hegel between the "young Hegelians" who thought the Hegelian dialectic meant we had to radically transform society, Marx being the most famous. And then there was the "old Hegelians" who thought that 18th century Germany was the peak of human achievement and absolutely nothing could be improved. Constituional monarchy was the final form of government and that's that.
It turns out that much like everyone ever who has had that idea, they were wrong.

I want to talk about Halo Head. Not because the author recently got a pilot onto Cartoon Network, but because I think it's a full-blown Bad Webcomic and I wanted to annoy the thread with one last effortpost before dropping it.

The plot is unbearable. You look back at the first two hundred or so pages and things are constantly moving. People are changing and new characters are being introduced. It feels like the last really substantial thing to happen in this comic was Achilles showing Pepper the stairs over three hundred pages ago. The worst part is that batshaped keeps teasing revelations about the stairs/other layers but never commits. To recap:

* Pepper and Achilles know about the stairs! What if Clair finds out? (She sees Achilles all beaten up and decides it's none of her business)
* Achilles must spend all day with Clair! What if he lets slip? (He doesn't)
* Clair accidentally calls Mars "Ares"! (It's brushed off in the next strip and forgotten about)
* Clair is half-asleep and saying ominous things to Achilles! (He makes a worried expression and we cut away)
* Achilles found a drawing of Ares and is pondering whether to ask Clair about it! (He makes a conscious effort to forget it and go back to normal)

Reading this comic is like watching Groundhog Day. This comic has been slowly losing me over the last year for various reasons but that last plot point where she builds up the dilemma of asking Clair about the file only to just say "no lol" and move on was the last straw. She is never going to resolve this plot thread but at the same time keep teasing it forever.

The only other plot point even worth mentioning is batshaped unironically doing the "if a girl rejects you it means she actually really likes you and you should be persistent" trope:

Women write plots like this then wonder why creeps in bars can't pick up on obvious signs.

I can see in the new show what you guys were saying about the comic. She's a technically competent artist but she just doesn't have any interesting stories to tell. There's other things about the comic and her social media presence that make me think it's time to dip out. I just wanted to vent one last time.

I just assumed she came up with a new pseudonym to distance herself from the comic but after searching for her name here I realize it's because she's a fucking lunatic:
