She left B5 to be a news anchor. Her arc ended with her being converted (not shown when) to Psycorp. A remaining loose plot thread is with her and Jason Lionheart.
It's surprising how seamless those trapdoors are to be honest. When the characters return, they feel like they've been changed by their reason for absence, you can feel the offscreen development Vir's explanation allows him to just continue his trajectory so he can be the character he needs to be for the stories when he gets back, and you just agree that this is how he would have developed from his time there.

And when they don't return, the replacement often deepens the themes rather than being essentially 1-1 replacement like how Sheridan fleshes out militarism, and the tension between the military and civilian government in a way Sinclar really couldn't or how no Tahlia meant the Vorlons create a weapon rather than coopting one, which says a lot about their benevolent nature

Honestly on of the best Sci-Fi shows to ever come out. Every singel episode kept me intrigued. my favorite part is the final episode of season 4 "where they keep going through different points in history, showing that Sheridan's Presidency was not the perfect and humanity continued to have it's ups and downs until they evolved past the need for the physical plane. Honestly the best ending for the show, and I'm glad Straczynski wrote such a gray ending, giving room for possible outcomes, and not making a perfect utopia as other shows would. I believe the future deaths of Londo and G'Kar also help strengthen such a good end."] I tried watching season 5 and could never get into it. Farscape is in the same tier of quality imo.
Are the movies worth watching, I know the 7th one got released a year ago.

Should just post in here about B5 instead of shitting up the Star Trek thread.

Anyway anyone here have the Babylon 5 Bluray set? How good is it? I must consoom.
I don’t have the BluRays, but I have rips of the 2020 release and it looks great, big improvement.

I’ve only seen The Beginning, it is well worth a watch. It was the first Babylon 5 thing I ever watched, back when the Sci-Fi channel still had the right name.

In the Beginning is really great and Thirdspace is a fun watch. River of Souls was so-so, and the other three were pilots of their respective series (B5, Crusade, and Legend of the Rangers). The recent animated one was entertaining, but it bums me out thinking about how most of the cast is dead.

Hmmm well personally I think the show’s biggest strength is also the reason it could never balloon into some franchise. A Call to Arms had moments I liked, don’t get me wrong. I still think about that Walter Goggins looking boss of the thieves guild, I got this itch like damn, give me more of that guy. He could’ve been their Harry Mudd.

Tried to get into this show a few times before but it didn't quite hook me, continued where I left off this time near the end of Season 1 and since then I've been watching non stop. Halfway through season 3 now. It's fantastic, it really feels like the status quo is constantly changing. The plot with Earth becoming more authoritarian and the impending doom you feel as the characters are unable to do anything about it was great.
JMS isn't nearly as funny a writer as he thinks though, I should be paid reparations for the sheer amount of cringe I experienced watching Ivanova's "sex scene" , he also often seems to try to do Whedon quipping but it just doesn't really work. But like with the other flaws of the show I can put up with it for the good stuff. I'm somewhat afraid of getting to season 4/5 though, the network really fucked the show over from what I've heard.

Also if you want a laugh go check out the B5 reddit. Turns out firing that unfunny hack Kimmel and the backlash against the Charlie Kirk gravedancers is literally the start of heckin Night Watch and evil nazi regimes, they'll be storming the news stations soon!

It’s maybe not as bad as you have heard, but it’s definitely rougher around the edges. I was worried myself, but by that point I was very invested in some of the characters (two in particular but I shan’t spoil anything) and that made it worth it.

It’s honestly a great show that just desperately needed a bigger budget and more stability in what network it was on.

Rewatching season 1. I forgot how good this show is. I know DS9 is considered the superior show by many, but I enjoy the more realistic inter-species relationships in Babylon 5. Plus, Bester is a far superior villain to Kai Winn.

Half-way through season 2. Every alien is a piece of shit. They all should die. Even the wannabe avatar faggots. Especially them. Imagine only not committing genocide because of muh souls. Most of all, the mystery nigger "you are not ready for anything but i will stand around and be vague as fuck instead of actually doing anything besides deus ex machina" aliens.

I hesitate to see the complaints around the military and radicalization of humans when every single alien race has proven itself an absolute self-centered cunt. Only humanity has shown any desire to negotiate between them. Holy hell. I wish sci-fi wasn't oversaturated by retarded liberals.

Bester is just Sloan with a worse hairpiece. DS9 only brought Sloan in ’cause B5 had their own creepy little government guy.

Who’s the Winn equivalent? Neroon, I would say. The one who does the weird face turn and then immediately dies.

But yeah, charisma-wise, I’ll take Koenig over Louise Fletcher doing that “church lady who had one glass of wine” tone. Wasn’t she on Maverick or some shit?

That’s the thing, normally I love casting against type, but she just seems too warm and polite.

The penultimate episode to season 2 is easily the worst one so far. I named the supposed shocking reveal the second replacement captain wanted him looked into. My god. I wish sci-fi would stop ACKSHULLYing human history. It's like a really shitty member berrying. On top of that, making supposed enlightened super beings employ the methods of a retarded three letter glowie agency as some convoluted and nonsensical test that would turn literally anyone against them. But it's fiction so it somehow works even if it's really really stupid.

Funny enough B5 was way more based in certain ways and probably more realistic compared to Star Trek about how the future might actually play out. It still surprises me that JMS wrote this series being the shitlib that he is. I guess the time and the environment wasn't right for his vision of B5. I personally don't think a remake will ever happen, is there even enough of a fan push for it?

It's not that the fan didn't understand the show, but that the old boomer doesn't understand the current political landscape

At worst Trump is like Londo

I feel that your posts are a good example of someone disliking something because it's not what they expect. You express anger that the Vorlons (I presume these are the 'supposed enlightened super-beings') sit on the sidelines just offering gnomic wisdom. They have very good reason for behaving the way they do and I believe you haven't reached the episode where the Vorlons do act the way you want them to. And regards the character of Jack? Who better to assess a member of an alien race than another member of that race. As is pointed out in the show, the Vorlons absolutely do have the capability to keep someone on ice (or even grant them long-life if preferred) and we do know that they have visited Earth in the past. There's nothing impossible in what happens. It's also possible that the Vorlons just have no taste for torturing people so why not have a human do it? Vorlons probably don't have their own serial killers to draw on. It seems to me your irritation at their behaviour is not because of what they do but because you think they're supposed to be "enlightened super-beings").

Same with the Minbari (unsure of why you liken them to Avatar?). They are not a race of "good guys". They have different castes and the Warrior caste was all in on the genocide until the Religious caste intervened for.... religious reasons. Why you would see the Minbari behaviour and think "these are the good guys" and then be angry that they don't behave like that, I don't know. Well, I kind of do - it's because they're advanced, have a spiritual aesthetic and see themselves as the good guys. All of the aliens in the show see themselves as the good guys and have reasons for how they behave. It's one of the great things about the show. There is even a reason why the Minbari might think it's a good thing to eliminate a warlike nascent star-faring species before that species gets too much momentum going. But it's not presented front and centre like most things in this show. And that's one of the nice things about Babylon 5. Watching people learn, change and finding out more. If you didn't like this show, no worries. But it's that you seem to dislike it for not being what you expect that prompts me to debate. Because that's a shame.

I also have to say on the topic of alien's each having their own perspective, that aside from a spoiler one you haven't reached yet, my favourite has to be the Drazi for how incomprehensible it is to Ivanovna whilst they can't see how they can possibly make it any simpler for the dumb human.

This was pretty much my Trek growing up and I love it to this day. Partially sad it got left in the dust when it was, but also VERY glad it didn't go through complete shitstorm of wokeness and thus kept its original glory.
