Awful "Epic gamer" PC cases

The issue isnt having lights the issue Is how these cases sacrifice practicality in favor of looking cool. In my opinion the best PC cases need to look both cool and practical like these

Don't laugh, but these gamer case monstrosities will be considered retro cool in about 25 years time. Kinda like how beige boxes with turbo buttons are retro cool today.

On my new PC, I really had to search for a concerning time for something that just looks neutral on my shelf and isn't a fucking eyesore while still being fairly priced. Then after I found something I liked I had to take the case apart to desolder the clear blue high-intensity Power LED (cheapest you can get out China) that'd light up the entire room in the night to replace it with a dim green one that wouldn't burn a hole in your retina when you glanced at the case.

Also good luck if you neither like black nor silver.

My new Mainboard has an Microcontroller for RGB-LEDs sitting on the USB bus I can't even turn off.

The problem with reusing an old case from the early ATX time is that some of them are unnecessarily huge and are designed for computers where the graphics card isn't a source of heat and the CPU has a TDP around 10-30W.



One of the worst offenders I saw on my search was this one. They wanted 340 euros for it.

My PC case looks like a frigging oven.

And heats my room very well during the winter. And unfortunately the other 3 seasons. But its a pleasure to work on and holds a lot of drives.

Nevermind the case, but what was he thinking with that config? That ancient GPU is a huge bottleneck in combination with that CPU and RAM...

Honestly I really like some of these cases like the sphere one (Not sure of the brand?) or the AZZA Pyramid case, they look ugly with 203049 RGB fans yeah but if you had none of that I think it would look really nice. Then there's just shit that's just adding all kinds of weird angles and shit for the sake of it.
Older Alienware desktops is the real ugly shit though.
