Decided to give this game a shot because it was on game pass and my dad’s subscribed to that (he’s like my personal blockbuster when it comes to games) and I’ve played through the intro and I don’t know if this is a me thing or a game thing but there’s a very annoying quirk with the dialogue where there’s a 1-2 second pause after someone speaks and there’s been 3 instances where I’ve accidentally skipped dialogue lines because of it because it slows down the pacing of conversations or because I’m thinking there’s hang up in the dialogue. It’s very annoying and it’s making these already slow and boring dialogue sections even worse.

I don’t have much else to say yet other than the combat is odd, I might just have to get used to it, and the writing is just inoffensive. Yep, I’ll see if I have more things to say.

I wouldn't even count it as a problem. It's a mushroom god that went absolutely fucking insane, both from hurting its own followers due to not knowing its own strength (convoluted lore reason, but nothing preachy or contrived) and Woedica along with other gods imprisoning it. It's a well written part imo, since Sapadal's reasoning, vernacular and ethics are alien enough to count as immersive writing. I'd count it as a woman - it's emotional, holds grudges, plays your emotions without meaning it, and will remember every slight, every off comment you make while talking to it. And it talks all the fucking time, you can't make it shut the fuck up outside of the very end of the game.

I agree it's technically not really a problem lore wise, Sapadal is not mad/sad out from nowhere since the other animat gods were just assholes as usual.
I'm just surprised no one talked about it while it checks all the boxes of traditional woke. But then you need to actually play the game to know her existence so it fits I guess.

People who care about lore don't see it as woke, because as woke as the game is (and I've already pointed out the worst), Sapadal isn't obvious or covert propaganda. Quite literally the only thing you could technically count as leftard shit related to Sapadal is that in memory sections, all of the characters are either really brown, strong and independent wamen, or both. No Whites, but I doubt the same people were in charge of concept/2D art (consistent with PoE 1 and 2), and writing. People aren't talking about Sapadal being a part of woke propaganda, because even midwits don't consider it one.

I will say this: Avowed is a piece of shit, but at least it makes me want to play PoE, something that's been on my backlog for a while. Not PoE2, it looks like that one has broken balancing and really horny reddit dialogue.

i think the best way to talk about woke is to talk about porn. Like to zoomers, a woman that has pictures up of herself in basically pasties and a thong at EDM isn't porn. and if she's not even wearing that but just a tight crop top and booty shorts and you can see through both right to the labia and nipples, its also not sexual or pornographic.

But to older people its rather fucking obviously porn, but to zoomers thats just casual wear, and its the same with woke. there's an acceptable level for each generation and the youth only see penetrative sex as porn, the same way some cultures don't consider handjobs or blowjobs cheating.

obviously having minorities in a game isn't instant woke same way having naked people isn't porn, but thats the problem with the whole "i'll know woke when i see it" retarded definition, its different to different people. hell plenty of horror films have naked people and simulated sex and aren't porn either same way most people don't consider the battlestar galactica series woke despite having tons of minorities and women in high roles, because its explained well (it was the bottom tier people in both government and the military on the galactica, the worst of the bunch) but when it came out people still complained. I'm guessing this was made as a Gamepass rental to introduce normalfags to the world of PoE to make the franchise more profitable in the future, kind of what Todd did with Fallout 76 or ESO(the latter being retarded since normalfags already love Skyrim). I guess it didn't work since even normalfags think it's too boring to care about muh deep lore and world building, not to mention asking them to play a "graphix bad" isometric crpg with tons of words is never going to work. It exploit the Pillars lore correctly, as some fun easter eggs but doesn't extend it this much itself.

Some people of the old civilisations (Ukazio-Engwithians-Yezuha) back then rejected the synthetic Engwithian Gods and exiled themselves in the Living lands.
The adra in Living lands is a close circuit cut from the rest of the world's Adra, so souls accumulated more quickly and denser and since gods are a big pile of souls BOOM homemade newborn god appear (Sapadal).
Homemade god contact synthetic gods, they say WTF and imprison her while genociding Living land kiths. New people came in the living lands later and try to live in the harsh environment.
Sapadal, with hundred of years being in soul prison became half depressed half crazy, her cranky state creating the mushroom zombification in the lands.
Right now Aedyr try to settle a colony because it's an expansionist empire and the locals are not happy.
You are somewhat a divine of Sapadal even tho you are from Aedyr (we don't know how), you are the emporor's envoy to make the shroom illness stop.
No one know from what god you are but other divines are disapearing as the gods are reabsorbing them because of the wheel being broken in POE2 (the wheel was also a soul food distributor)
Adventures, friends along the way, simplistic politics, You are a wizard Harry You are Sapadal's chosen one, Woedica is a bitch, Tayn is the goat, free or unalive poor Sapadal, stop the shroom covid, the end.

What puzzled me is if you let Sapadal exist it doesn't have a big impact on Eora on the explanation slides at the end of the story. You just chill out with Sapadal in the living lands.
There's also no real answer of what really happen to you as an envoy, like what your Emperor (who saved your life and especially chose you for this mission) think about your choices? What do people in Eora think of a newfound god? What are the other gods thinking about Sapadal being out?

I didn't like the lore implications for the whole series that came with Avowed, mostly because while it doesn't address the Big Thing that happens at the end of Deadfire, it indirectly invalidates some of it. If you've played BG1 and 2, you know that the essence of Bhaal being in his children stops them from being able to be resurrected, but then first Imoen gets revealed as a child of Bhaal and due to magical bullshit asspull plot armor IS able to be resurrected, and later in ToB so does Sarevok. Of course both are "justified" in the story, but it still lessens the impact of the supposedly ironclad rule of the world those games take place in.
It's like that in Avowed - things that should not have been possible (and the entire system was built around those restrictions), suddenly are.
