‘Avengers: Endgame’ Co-Writer Explains Why Ant-Man Would Have Died in Thanos’ Butt

By now, almost everyone in the world has seen Avengers: Endgame, which means we’re all aware that Ant-Man does not crawl into Thanos’ butt and expand, thus killing the Mad Titan from the inside out. This was a popular theory on the interwebs as to how the Avengers could kill Thanos in the Infinity War sequel, but as it turns out the correct answer to “how can the Avengers kill Thanos?” is chop his head off and snap him out of existence.
But the Ant-Man Thanos Butt Theory, as it is affectionately called (by me), still demands to be answered, and luckily Empire Podcast host Chris Hewitt was asking the important questions when he sat down with Avengers: Endgame writers Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely for a spoiler-filled chat about the movie.

When asked about the Ant-Man Thanos Butt Theory, Markus explained that Paul Rudd’s lovable thief would have been crushed by Thanos’… well, you’ll see:
“Thanos could take a punch from the Hulk, we’ve seen that. And it stands to reason his whole body is at least as strong as that,” Markus explains. “If Ant-Man expanded, he would be simply crushed against the immovable walls of Thanos’ mighty rectum.”

You know what? That checks out. We saw the Avengers do their worst to Thanos and he barely bled, so it stands to reason his skin is incredibly tough. Rectal walls of steel, baby.
So there you have it. No, Ant-Man could not have just crawled up Thanos’ butt and expanded. I mean, he could have, but then we’d have the most graphic and disturbing death in Marvel Cinematic Universe history on screen. Nobody needs that."

It really does deserve it more. It's not the greatest superhero/comic book movie of all time but it is damn good.

By the time Avatar 2 is near release, they're going to rerelease Avatar and it will be the highest grossing movie once again. The gap between Avatar and Endgame will most likely not be that wide. Mark my words.

I'm curious to know if Cameron will re release Avatar this December. 2019 marks the 10 year anniversary of Avatar and if they want they could easily re release it in 3D and Imax theatres worldwide like he did for Titanic 7 years ago.

Avatar made "only" 200M because the Chinese banned the 2D version of Avatar after they thought that it was inspiring propaganda. Only the 3D version was allowed but in 2009 there was so little screens (obviously not a problem today). if it wasn't for that Avatar could've made close to or over 3B because that's how popular the movie was in China.

Now I know some people sperg out and like to bring up "exchange rates" because in theory Endgame "should've" grossed like 600M more overseas if the dollar was as weak as it was in 2009/2010 (people also estimate that Force Awakens worldwide total was hurt by like 400M because of the much stronger dollar in late 2015/early 2016).

But they conveniently forget about worldwide inflation, way more Premium format theatres existing worldwide nowadays and how markets like Eastern Europe, Latin America. China and Southeast Asia/India have grown exponentially since 2009.
 
They're actually looking to buy Activision so you're not far off.

I'm glad Crisp Rat got regulated to punching bag. Think they'll successfully get Gamora in GotG Vol 3 or will they give her the Janet treatment by not having her be found until the end?

Also.....originally Michelle Pfeiffer and Michael Douglas were gonna be in the final battle. Stupid to cut them out tbh.
