Fuck outspoken atheist. If you don't want to believe in God, that's your right. I'm personally an agnostic. But acting like every aspect of religion is harmful or shows a lack of intelligence from the believer is unwarranted arrogance. Religions have been the root of a lot of pain and suffering in the world, but they've also done a lot of good. There are people with hard, depressing lives who need to believe that there's more than this life, and trying to take that away from them, or trying to make them question it, is vile.
It's not that all aspects of religion are harmful, it's that the good aspects of religion can (and should) be separated from the other parts of religion.

Like charity, for example. I'm very grateful for religious charities, in the same way that I'm grateful for charities in general. But y'know what's better than a religious charity? A secular charity that does the same thing. It achieves the same effect without the religious baggage.

Now, of course, we aren't in a time where we can scrub religion from all the places where it doesn't belong. We probably won't ever reach that point. But it's certainly a good direction to be moving.

For me atheism's about the same as religion. I'm glad you (dis)believe in something. Now fuck off I didn't ask about it.

I don't mind religious charites although I don't agree with religions themselves getting a tax free status.

Atheism proposes there is no Heaven or Hell, there is only this existence. Then there is nothing once you die, you disappear into nothingness. So in that framework, you should probably extract as much materials, pleasure, experiences, money etc etc before you die because nothing matters anyway. Even if you raped that girl, she'll also vanish into non-existence so that doesn't matter, does it? You should become a pure hedonist and do drugs and participate in orgies every night. I mean, you are going to vanish into non-existence anyway? Who cares? Just fuck everything up. Pure nihilism. Everyones an NPC, including yourself.
