US Assault weapons ban passed in House of Representatives - House takes a shit. Tells the Senate jannies to clean it up.

The House of Representatives voted to pass an assault weapons ban Friday evening, with legislators narrowly approving the bill with a 217-213 vote.

The legislation will now head to the Senate, where it's unlikely to break the filibuster.

Two Republicans, Reps. Brian Fitzpatrick, R-Penn., and Chris Jacobs, R-N.Y., broke with their party to vote yes on the bill. Five Democrats, Rep. Henry Cuellar, D-Texas; Rep. Jared Golden, D-Maine, Rep. Vicente Gonzalez, D-Texas, Rep. Kurt Schrader, D-Oreg., and Rep. Ron Kind, D-Wisc. broke with their party to vote no.

President Biden said that a majority of Americans agree with the assault weapons ban and called on the Senate to pass it.

"The majority of the American people agree with this common sense action. The should Senate move quickly to get this bill to my desk, and I will not stop fighting until it does. There can be no greater responsibility than to do all we can to ensure the safety of our families, our children, our homes, our communities, and our nation," Biden said. "Today, House Democrats acted by unifying to pass an assault weapons ban to keep weapons of war off our streets, save lives in this country, and reduce crime in our communities."

The House does dumb shit all the time.

The majority of the American people agree with this common sense action. The should Senate move quickly to get this bill to my desk
Is this a direct quote from President Biden? Because if it is, I wouldn't be surprised.

If any Houston kiwis wanna rack up some $50 gift cards you could totally just slap some metal pipes and wiring together on some wooden planks and turn them in as nonfunctioning guns here's some food for thought

It basically gets rid of over 10 round standard capacity magazines and most semi-auto rifles. Magazines are for pistol/rifle. It's a supercharged 1994 AWB, with no sunset risk for them this time.

Nobody would lose what they already own and you could still get used ones, but this could encourage a universal registry system and only allow legal transfers for the 'pre-bans'.

They say it doesn't, but that's a lie. They just voted to make you a felon overnight.
If you already possess them, they're grandfathered.

Paragraph (1) shall not apply to the possession of any large capacity ammunition feeding device otherwise lawfully possessed on or before the date of enactment of the Assault Weapons Ban of 2022.

So how are they defining "assault weapons"? Is it the same way they did in the AWB, with a bunch of arbitrary cosmetic features?

It's a very concise definition, easy for citizens to read and understand:

“(40) The term ‘semiautomatic assault weapon’ means any of the following, regardless of country of manufacture or caliber of ammunition accepted:

“(A) A semiautomatic rifle that—
“(i) has the capacity to accept a detachable ammunition feeding device; and
“(ii) has any 1 of the following:
“(I) A pistol grip.
“(II) A forward grip.
“(III) A folding, telescoping, or detachable stock, or a stock that is otherwise foldable or adjustable in a manner that operates to reduce the length, size, or any other dimension, or otherwise enhances the concealability, of the weapon.
“(IV) A grenade launcher.
“(V) A barrel shroud.
“(VI) A threaded barrel.
“(B) A semiautomatic rifle that has a fixed ammunition feeding device with the capacity to accept more than 15 rounds, except for an attached tubular device designed to accept, and capable of operating only with, .22 caliber rimfire ammunition.
“(C) Any part, combination of parts, component, device, attachment, or accessory that is designed or functions to accelerate the rate of fire of a semiautomatic firearm but not convert the semiautomatic firearm into a machinegun.
“(D) A semiautomatic pistol that—
“(i) has an ammunition feeding device that is not a fixed ammunition feeding device; and
“(ii) has any 1 of the following:
“(I) A threaded barrel.
“(II) A second pistol grip.
“(III) A barrel shroud.
“(IV) The capacity to accept a detachable ammunition feeding device at some location outside of the pistol grip.
“(V) A semiautomatic version of an automatic firearm.
“(VI) A manufactured weight of 50 ounces or more when unloaded.
“(VII) A buffer tube, stabilizing brace or similar component that protrudes horizontally behind the pistol grip.
“(E) A semiautomatic pistol with a fixed ammunition feeding device that has the capacity to accept more than 15 rounds.
“(F) A semiautomatic shotgun that—
“(i) has the capacity to accept a detachable ammunition feeding device or a fixed ammunition feeding device that has the capacity to accept more than 5 rounds; and
“(ii) has any 1 of the following:
“(I) A folding, telescoping, or detachable stock.
“(II) A pistol grip or bird's head grip.
“(III) A forward grip.
“(IV) A grenade launcher.
“(G) Any shotgun with a revolving cylinder.

They say it doesn't, but that's a lie. They just voted to make you a felon overnight.
This isn't that much different than the 94 one, but they might push the 'possession' thing a lot harder this time and just confiscate/fine/possibly jail anyone arrested or interacting with cops that owns one.

"
If enacted, the bill would make it a crime to knowingly import, sell, manufacture, transfer, or possess a semiautomatic assault weapon or a large capacity ammunition feeding device. But some of these weapons would be allowed to be grandfathered in.

If any Houston kiwis wanna rack up some $50 gift cards you could totally just slap some metal pipes and wiring together on some wooden planks and turn them in as nonfunctioning guns here's some food for thought
>steal guns
>you're not going to give up yours you bought on the black market
>sell gun for gift cards
>get gift cards to stores
>lol who uses gift cards when you can just steal shit
>sell gift cards behind the gas station

Sounds like they're just enriching Tyrone at the cost of everyone else

Christ above, they'd ban the Hi-Point carbines? Have they no decency? I guess that ten-round single stack is fucking scary.

"“(xv) Kel-Tec Sub-2000, SU–16, and RFB."

Sub-2000's inclusion was inevitable, as was the SU-16's and the PLR-16's lower down... but where's the RDB? It's a 5.56 bullpup that takes STANAG mags, where the RFB is 7.62 and takes FAL mags. Very strange!

"“(v) Streetsweeper."

Oh look, they just Ctr-c'd the 90's AWB again, just with some added stuff. This plus the fucking Calico weapons... I know I'm not supposed to read this, but Jesus Christ, get new lines. Anyways, you know, can't wait till the American Troubles. Ça ira.

The only thing that needs to happen is someone to sue them over this. The Supreme Court has struck down so many gun control laws, so the democrat-controlled legislative branch is flailing their arms desperately trying to get a few things in before they're raped up the assholes later this year.

That's why it's moving so quickly.
