It would've made a million times more sense to just make the MC a Japanese dude in a game where your options are being a ninja and a samurai. Like Tsushima.

2B was not Automata protagonist, Nines and A2(or even the pods) were.
2B was just the prologue protagonist (like Snake in MGS2) and 2B('s ass) was just the face(or ass) for the marketing.
Taro has other games with Fem lead like DoD3 (a flop that a remake with Replicant 1.22 combat would work well)

I started replaying Nioh 2 yesterday and I noticed that Naoe looks almost identical to the default male Hide preset on character creation.

We've fallen so far female characters now look the same as male characters from 2019.

nieR is unironically the biggest fucking con job on earth. One "who?" tier first game, then a literal tech demo sandbox game consisting of 80% empty landscapes, and yet runs like dogshit. I've seen Gollum speedrunners quit nieR out of boredom. Then you finally think it's fucking dead and they put an entire raid into FFXIV solely to shill that game again.

Then Replica drops and people unironically go "It's so good if you just ignore all optional quests". It's nuts how some games just get a hardcore pass cause uhh, fanboys? I guess

I'm very optimistic when it comes to that since Team Ninja has a certain "reputation" to uphold, given that they're the devs of the Ninja Gaiden and Dead or Alive games. And yeah, I know they went with the whole "less sexualized" bullshit with Dead or Alive 6, but they did the same with DoA5 and in the end Dead or Alive 5 Last Round had the most sexualized costumes the series has ever seen, plus the new DoA Xtreme games are the most risque they've ever been. I think the only reason they haven't gone back to their roots with a new revision of Dead or Alive 6 is because the game was such a massive flop in both the commercial and the gameplay sense that they just abandoned it completely.

I never saw any real sales numbers but I wouldn't be shocked if Rise flopped too since it was a PS5 exclusive for a long time and the recent PC port is allegedly in a terrible technical state.

They said RotR was their best selling title ever. Maybe factoring in costs it wasn't their greatest success but its definitely not a flop. And given that they put in another ad buy for it when Shadows came out it certainly looks like the title has legs.

It's... okay. The game is really fun but it's not very stable on pc.

I was really into the alt-historical setting combined with near-ish future scifi, all the way from 1 to Syndicate. But then it was an era I couldn't give less of a shit about in Origins and the series became a parody of open world uber-slop game design.

If this was a decade plus ago and Ubisoft released Shadows back when the fans wanted them to do a Japan entry it would've been GotY material, but now it's the exact opposite and could be the game that marks when all the little problems became an existential problem for the company.

If Ubi would have dropped the trying so hard to crowbar the weird animus/abstergo/templar stuff into AC post AC3 and AC4 i feel the games would have been a lot more enjoyable and less restrictive. Go full alt history like Wolfenstien because you Origins and forward you get the feeling they really want to drop this nonsense and lean more into the fantastical but because it's AC they need to strictly try to stay with the formula.
