Articles & Happenings is the third attempt at a news board on the Kiwi Farms. It is a cursed place. Every moderator who has been assigned here has resigned within a year. During 2016, the political crossfire was so bad it spread to different boards and culminated in me banning American news discussion entirely for several months. It has been deleted in its entirety twice. There is no actual discussion here, it's people posting garbage. It leans much further right than the rest of the site and doesn't particularly conduct discussion because dissenting opinions are dogpiled by a thousand memelords posting shit they read on /pol/ without any critical analysis.
The only rules that can be enforced are empirical ones with boolean violation answers. New threads must cite a real source directly and must use the headline of the article as a thread title without any editorializing. Articles must be archived in some way and must link to the original article. Replies that are one word or a reaction images are automatic one-month bans from the board.
I'm creating this now because it seems like this place is here to stay and is one of the largest areas of the entire site. I might as well throw in bare minimum effort to improve it. I don't even try to find mods for here because they will quit, without exception. I've added new prefixes ("Business" and "Crime") just now.

Nothing is changed except that guests can view this board. Everything else is fine. The 4chan wave has already passed. I'm just removing a restriction that is no longer necessary.
Making A&H private is what caused me to make an account. I wanted to get news but no longer could. If Null had never made it private, I might not be a poster here today.

I wanted to see privated shit (phonebooks and such) and also read what was in A&H so I joined. I never really planned on posting or being active but I am glad I did.
Now Null needs to remove the new privating feature on user profiles because I miss building NIGGER towers for newfags and retards.
I feel like this doesn’t align with the purpose of the site which is primarily online gossip. Kiwi Farms isn’t a news aggregation service. I don’t see why the set of articles we choose to post need be visible to the public eye. The parts of the site that should be public are the actual lolcow boards. Nothing else needs to be public in my opinion.
I registered mostly for a specific community watch thread, plus a couple lolcows I'd known about for a while; I didn't know this board existed at the time. I like it a lot now, it's a fun board to post in. It doesn't even seem like many serious arguments happen. Most people here seem mature enough to take and throw a few hits and move on with their life. I assume the old-timers who seethe about this board just don't enjoy seeing chud politics, and wish we'd all focus on making fun of autists. I guess they could decide to get over it?
