Articles & Happenings is the third attempt at a news board on the Kiwi Farms. It is a cursed place. Every moderator who has been assigned here has resigned within a year. During 2016, the political crossfire was so bad it spread to different boards and culminated in me banning American news discussion entirely for several months. It has been deleted in its entirety twice. There is no actual discussion here, it's people posting garbage. It leans much further right than the rest of the site and doesn't particularly conduct discussion because dissenting opinions are dogpiled by a thousand memelords posting shit they read on /pol/ without any critical analysis.

The only rules that can be enforced are empirical ones with boolean violation answers. New threads must cite a real source directly and must use the headline of the article as a thread title without any editorializing. Articles must be archived in some way and must link to the original article. Replies that are one word or a reaction images are automatic one-month bans from the board.

I'm creating this now because it seems like this place is here to stay and is one of the largest areas of the entire site. I might as well throw in bare minimum effort to improve it. I don't even try to find mods for here because they will quit, without exception. I've added new prefixes ("Business" and "Crime") just now.

Someone in the thread put the opposite earlier, but this needs to be said. Read past the article's headline, at least two paragraphs in. Headlines are almost ALWAYS lies through omission of context, and the lie spreads if people don't actually read that shit.

Yeah there are definitely people that would have articles be forum slid off into the abyss because they didn't like the story.

It's good to have an archive of old stories for the sake of both prosperity and so that people can link to old articles easily.

Also please disable the .onion redirect until you fix the .onion.
 
I humbly suggest that @verygayFrogs be temp banned from making all his shit tier, zero effort, copy paste OP's in this board for the following reasons.

1) They are literally just copy pastes
2) He never includes any pictures, archives, videos or anything of any value
3) Over the past couple months he has posted several threads for articles that already exist on this board

The shit is so lazy that almost every single thing he posts, the first or second post is from a user doing a simple google search and finding a picture of a perp, video of a crime or literally anything relevant to the article at hand that 9 times out of 10 was included in the article copied but he just can't be assed to spend the extra 2 seconds to archive or do anything at all.

I don't give a shit either way but I'm sick of this fag shitting up the board. He's done fair work in other boards but this is just lazy and he's a prime example of why this board had to go members only in the first place.

2. So you have a point here,

@verygayFrogs try to start including an archive copy of each article you post, the faggots in the news media art above editing shit after the fact and it's nice if we have the proof backed up in multiple places. Use https://archive.vn/ or something like that and post both links with the article.

3. Try to be careful of that, it's more annoying for the mods than this faggot berating you. Threads can be merged but they'd rather avoid having to do that. When you start posting the article it'll let you know if there is similarly titled threads, try to make sure you arn't doing a goof.

That my friends is how you show a newbie how to stop being a little niglet-fag. Not calling for the fuckin' head right off the goddamn back like some dumb @Lowtax shit-tier reasoning.

I humbly asked for a temporary thing, I'm not asking for his head and I more so do it in hopes that it will drive him to try harder. I'm not tagging mods, I'm not back seat modding. I've even directly suggested to him multiple times to not be so lazy and pointed these things out. This is a place to discuss the state of the board and that is exactly what I am doing. That's exactly why he was the only person I tagged.

In all honesty, I think he has potential and sometimes he finds good articles, ffs I already said he does good work when he puts his mind to it over in Lolcow threads. That all being said, it doesn't excuse shitting up the board with copy paste shit. I stand by what I said and I will say no more because I'm not shitting this up with arguments.

You alright dude, just came off a bit harsh for this thread. This one is sort of a teeny bit more serious than the others I believe, bitching at him in the thread the problem occurred in would be completely fair game though. A firm "remember to post the damn archive you dumb nigger" and maybe do it if it seems like something legit worth preserving if you're worried about it getting nuked.

God I feel like a fuckin' dad or some shit right now.

I've tried being nice about it directly to him in threads, I've bitched at him in numerous threads, I've flat out called him a faggot for his laziness in threads. This is why I came here and this is why the "uwu my depression" shit really pisses me off.

Nigger, I just sat through a year of being locked the fuck down and forced to work with no hazard pay whilst being told how brave and dangerous my life is as an essential worker. I had multiple planned and payed for trips fucked over, friendships ended over people being retards that praise science but don't know the first thing about it. Does that make me post lazy shit on KF? Fuck outa here with that shit.

Have to disagree about this. Old threads with important information can become relevant again at any point. Page 2 autodelete is way too soon, regardless. Maybe autodelete sub-20 post threads that go six months without activity? That would essentially halve the amount of threads without too much unintended damage. Then increase the post count in proportion to the period of inactivity. 100 replies/1 year, 200 replies 1.5 years, etc. Either way, post count should be considered alongside activity, as well as content of the thread.

Still, your sandbox, your rules. Just how I feel about the idea.
