I rewatched Metal Gear Awesome recently too. I did it because he went and censored the raven saying nigger in Metal Gear Awesome 2 for his channel upload
If Arin hates Turtles in Time, one of the greatest beat em ups of all time, he's unsaveable.
As a guy that also used to think the Awesome series was hysterical, I think why it was funny back in the day is two things. Its VOLUME for one. Most of the time its just him screaming nonsense which can be funny of course.

It's probably mid-2000s nostalgia kicking in, but the majority of his old stuff is just bad. The whole jokes he made have no punchline or anything, not even visually

Unlike, say, MovieBob, he has a wife, so I don't think he's doing it to get laid. Notice when it came out about Dan fucking the fans we heard nothing about Arin, which would have been a real controversy had anything like that actually happened.
The Awesome series I can watch and enjoy but it's not as great as when I first watched it. I won't say a bad word about Girlchan in Paradise, though, that shit was a masterpiece

Part of it was the videos were usually short enough so nothing lingered too often; I'll also say it's a lot of early Internet humor, so different place different time is in effect. Though I'll admit I think his Dead or Alive: Xtreme Beach Volleyball Awesome (forget the actual title) is timeless. There's also a hint of love with his Ninja Gaiden Awesome, where the strategy guide guy gets killed by Ryu, because the difficulty is that insane; and I like this, because the Ninja Gaiden Σ 2 strategy guide by Brady Games, a lot of the co-op mission data is just straight fucking wrong and their tips are "get good." And not a "get good you fucking scrub," but obviously a cry for help of not knowing what to fucking write down because the game is kicking their ass... and to be fair, the co-op missions are absolute bullshit.
What got me was when he said he "needed to practice" in his downtime. It's a 3D action-adventure game, why do you need to hop in the lab for that?
Imagine needing to practice for any game at all that isn't a fighter. I seriously cannot think of a single game where practice matters other than fighters.
I can see it with anything that requires first person skill or in depth knowledge like FPS's or grand strategy games on the top of my head. Certainly not many 3D action adventure games except maybe the souls series or if you were speed-running, which Arin is certainly not doing.
