Old school socialists were correct that importing labor from outside their country would drive down wages and weaken the labor capital of the average low skill worker. Marx highlighted the weapon of "an army" of reserve labor and its why, back in the day, left wing groups such as the communist party of France use to organize unions to beat (Algerian) immigrants down by the docks. Nu-socialists stand for very little other than "make the 1% pay for everything I want and I'm gay."
