Post rock bands I’ve seen live in my high school years were Tortoise, Godspeed You! Black Emperor, Sigur Ros, Mogwai, Explosions in the Sky, Mono, maybe Swans later stuff but not at the time really.
A lot of these I listened in high school and college as well, and surprisingly I still do. Apart from Aphex Twin, stuff such as Boards of Canada, GY!BE, Swans, Stereolab, Radiohead (shut up), Mutemath, HiM, M83, Sigur Ros, etc. were among the many things I listened to and I still do even today

I was getting into Aphex a year or two before drukQs dropped. It was such a wildly contentious album when it released, but still managed to find its weird hybridization of vibes from RDJ and I Care Because You Do. ICBYD is one of my personal favourites, in part because he was trying so hard to do literally nothing in a "popular" style.

Yeah it’s a testament when good music still holds up many years later. I didn’t realise how good I had it in high school and early uni, it was kinda the last scene (that I knew of or was a part of) before everything moved online. My tastes have gone more dancey and electronic these days but I still put these records on when I’m in the mood. Also nothing wrong with Radiohead, I can’t play an instrument but I did a production course once and a mate in it was super into them because of how technical their music is. Adds another layer of appreciation if you know the theory behind what they’re doing.

Dont give a fuck, radiohead is that shit. Both Thom and Richard are insane music makers - genius. I wasn't even surprised that thom was inspired by the man. A collab album with aphex and thom would go crazy.

Fucking hell... Sorry to ruin everything but he's an old man in a stupid new world so I guess you can hardly blame him? And yes, I am very late with this. The tranny I think is "James K."? Only just finding out about this one now.
