I just learned about the beginning of his trial on the news, and I'm crossing my hopes for good news because a lot of what the media has been reporting about Bob Crimo's trial has been untrue. I've done some research and spoken to a number of folks, and they have all confirmed what I already knew.
All I can say is that the FOID card was not Bob's, and he did not just randomly hand a gun to a mentally ill child for Shits & Giggles. Bob simply signed the application to allow the state to do background checks and fingerprint checks on Robert as Bob already had his own license from the state.
Bob does not have the authority to grant or deny a FOID card. The state of Illinois is the one denying responsibility and deflecting blame. Little Bobby passed 4-5 background checks, which are conducted after each firearm purchase.
