I know water and electrical plugs don't mix but I can't find a straight answer when it comes to outdoor christmas light plugs. Specifically the kind that allow you to connect multiple strands together like a festive human centipede

Realistically is it fine for these to get rained on or am I playing a game of how quick can I burn my yard down?

If you're connected to a GFCI protected oulet the risk is very low. I'd try and keep them under eaves or otherwise out of the worst of the weather though, but my rain tends to be a bit more intense than some places.

If you're super paranoid and you have a Home Depot near you, they sell these little do-dads along in the christmas lighting/extension cord/Christmas Vacation simulator section. Only like 5 bucks, they're waterproof and pretty damn durable.
