Football is violent senseless stupid sport. Concussions are no joke. These players hit their heads multiple times a game, and hide their minor concussions all the time. You only see the major concussions taken off the field.
CTE turns you into a murderer, suicide, or full dementia at 40 years old.
 
I actually had the interesting experience of reading an interview with Brown's father ages ago, and holy shit, did it bring a few things to light. I also know a couple of things not discussed in the OP not worth considering.

Brown was always a raging narcissist, even in his childhood, rarely grateful for anything he got, constantly causing issues for people around him and effectively relying on the world giving him a free pass for a lot of his early life, even as his parents tried in vain to reel him the fuck in, in ways that didn't work. He had at least a little humility, but the nanosecond he started doing well enough to be considered talented, he fully expected the world to kiss his ass, and he just hit the ground running. But you also get the distinct impression that his dad also being a very talented football player (Eddie Brown) and his mom being kind of a shoestring did the dude no favors - like you're very much looking at a case of both nature AND nurture.

The dude's ego was massive and unchecked, and started officially calling himself Antonio the God and declaring himself a foreign national in official correspondences around the time of the Albany Empire saga.

TL;DR: Dude is a perfect storm of terrible fucking traits acquired in childhood, self-evidently substandard parenting, and multiple systems that decided to ignore quality recognition instincts. A lot was overlooked because like his dad, he was a generational talent, but none of that is going to be remembered compared to him trying to metamorph himself into an IRL GTA character.

Nah, Gronk is just a big ol' meat head jock, but in a good way. He's always been the big oaf, and he definitely leans into it and plays it up for the cameras. The dude is actually really smart with multiple successful business ventures, charity work, and he notably hasn't spent any of his NFL earnings, because of his business and endorsement money. And as far as I know he's never had any off-field controversies, or went full-retard and ripped his pads off mid-game and do jumping jack's in front of a crowd.

NFL players are known for foolish extravagance, but, the AB apologists are acting like bankrupting a minor league football team to the point it can't pay its bills and gets kicked out of the league.... just so the owner can have some more bling.... is a totally normal everyday thing like losing a couple thousand on a penny stock that didn't pan out.

This was a generational talent causing generational ruination even by pro football standards.

I think the only difference was when Vick got out he actually tried to work as a colored commentator. Yeah it was fucked up having a dog fighting ring on his property, but when he took the chance to improve his life he did and somewhat maintain his reputation. AB had many chances, before and after getting concussed by burfict. It was either the contract he had with the steelers, the concussion, him being a nutty nigga, drugs/alcohol, but most likely a combination of everything.
