I totally agree with this.
Towards the end of me using ANN, I'd just check in for any new American license pick ups and check out the forum, i rarely clicked on any of the articles.
If he shut down the forums, ANN would very likely go belly under. You can pay to be a "super special awsome" forum user. I don't know if they still have it, but I'm betting they still do. So if he got rid of them, they'd be seeing pretty much no revenue anymore...
