The same list (but maybe not the same article) has already been posted in the thread but I'm not that surprised by Armitage III making the list. It's never gotten the same amount of mainstream attention as Ghost in the Shell or Akira but it did have a dubbed compilation movie with the voices of Kiefer Sutherland and Elizabeth Berkley and, I think more importantly, it had a number of physical media re-releases over the past two decades (and I think it's streaming officially on a few sites) so it's been able to get new fans while flying just barely under the mainstream radar.

The way they wrote the Third cyborgs as being manufactured living beings is an interesting twist just different enough to set Armitage III apart from a lot of other, more generic cyberpunk cyborg/android productions.

Okay good, didn't say anything. Solty Rei didn't even make a blip, though. Oh well.

Still surprising, anyway, but it's been reviewed a couple of times by some Anitubers that I think some people checked it out on their own anyway and was surprised by it, but wasn't aware of it actually streaming anywhere. The Poly-Matrix movie is probably what did it in like @sasazuka mentioned, but even with the hilarious choice in cast, it was still a fun watch and is beautifully stylized. The sequel movie doesn't seem to be remembered in comparison, but y'know, style over substance I suppose.

Well, good on you, Armitage.

The movies aren't bad but the second animated adaptation was, less than ideal. I was fine because I like the story arcs and the OP was tight.
 
I think another advantage that Armitage III had, at least initially, was that the first Ghost in the Shell movie was hugely popular but then, aside from the alright but not great Playstation game, it took 8 years for Japan to make a sequel and anime TV series, and Armitage III was one of only a handful of anime released in English in the interim that were at least superficially similar to Ghost in the Shell.

It also had celebrity voice acting, which was extremely rare for anime back then. Also you're at the point where its very nostalgic for a lot of people, since it was one of the easier anime's to get in the states.

I mentioned this in the Adult Swim thread, but there's a very comprehensive article on Wikipedia called "List of programs broadcast by Toonami." It's got the complete lineup for the entirety of Toonami's Adult Swim run, including the schedule order for the shows and the time and dates they aired (it doesn't specifically list times but you can work it out), as well as specials, movies, and marathons. Doesn't have the same for the original run on Cartoon Network, but it does have the starting date for every show listed, along with some breakdowns of which shows aired on the Rising Sun and Midnight Run blocks.

If you're looking for older schedules, you can try and do some searches for old TV listings, but it'll probably be a bit of work.

That was back when he was, at best, Dr. Tim Whatley. He did a lot of dubbing work back then.

Just read the first chapter and I’m in full agreement.

EDIT: god, I’d forgotten just how much I enjoy goofy over the top slice of life stuff. This manga is great.

As someone who read this once & loved it since, this is objectively the best rom-com of all time.

The pacing is godly compared to some slug-fests that exist. Like, this manga has so much progress that other mangas look like a joke in front of it. The art is pretty good at beginning & has gotten better recently. All characters are loveable & the story is always fresh.

Tho there is one "issue" (if you can call it that), you may feel like getting deaf reading this manga. It's actually an exercise to read due to how loud it is (not a bad thing IMO).

BTW, the new chapter 28 just released today.

Seriously, this story is like no filler whatsoever. The relationship is farther in 28 chapters than most series get at all.

I expect a massive multi-racial cast, race swapping and unnecessary pointless shit. I heard it gets trash towards the end, but what is the point of a 'live' adaption? I honestly don't understand. "Oh, I completely hate, anime, manga, subs and dubs but I really don't want to watch it in a 'cartoon' because it makes me feel icky because I'm an insecure faggot, so I'll just watch this shit TV adaption instead. Wow, this shit adaption makes no sense. Anime is so wacky!"

Anime and manga fans are just going to watch the anime. Normies aren't going to know what the fuck and shit gets even WORSE as you try to translate it down the chain. Seriously, its like a bad game of fucking telephone.

I have no particular attachment to TPN but stop fucking adapting anime for live action. There's no fucking point to it, it ALWAYS gets fucked up. Whats even more mind boggling is you have a guy who did 'Enter the Spiderverse' except he's doing it LIVE ACTION. WHY? The entire strength of 'Enter the Spiderverse' was animation.

I've actually got a lot of problems with TPN and its going to be a very WEIRD translation to TV. Its not really horror, as it abandons that element quickly. Its more like a prison drama with 11 year olds, which will NOT work out live action. You can get away with kids in anime because they're voices and you don't have to deal with child actors. But for a live action series comprised entirely of children? Fucking ugh.

I bet it was done because the entire first arc would be crazy cheap to produce.

Hopefully this series will spur a change where all anime actually develops relationships than just nervous glances for 45 episodes before someone struggles to say they like the other person in the last 30 seconds of a series.
