It's more that anime has changed a lot from what I like and remember. Cyberpunk, action, edgy shit that ripped your head off but had something of substance below the shock value.

So when someone wants to talk about anime, here's me bringing up Bubblegum Crisis or Ninja Scroll, and they're talking about if Batman could solve the Kira case or the Mario movie. And that's not counting people suddenly bringing up One Piece or Lupin, only to realize they're talking about the Netflix show.
Not sure if I want to play devil's advocate, but can you blame a younger generation of anime fans for their particular way of engaging with the medium ? There are countless things that will inevitably influence how you perceive things, think and engage with them. Not sure how many things have changed in the broader anime community when it comes to trying to watch shows that go beyond what people are comfortable with or how much one should try to at least view a certain portion of shows from different time periods. One (not me) could also make the argument that you are stuck in your peculiar ways and what ever kind of shows you like are to different / or flawed when it comes to modern anime and the average anime viewer nowadays.

Or something like that. I am more or less in your corner and certainly prefer something like Ninja Scroll over what ever might be the newest hot show or some awful Netflix adaptation. I don't know how many shows that modern anime viewers watch have substance, but I also know that something like LotGH only could have been made in the past. But for better or for worse you also can't force people new to anime or tourists to watch it backwards and force them to go through a good chunk of important shows from the 80-90s and thus try to influence them to become more knowledgeable and capable of maintaining a stimulating conversation about the medium.

Anime and its entire fandom will develop in some way even if it will be to its detriment. Or maybe we are just old, grumpy and wrong about it and whatever is going on is its natural evolution.
At a certain point, I have to ask why are half of these people here?

In anime, I see a lot of complaints about Crunchy Roll and activist translators. Valid criticisms. Then they go back to talking about the shows they like.
I understand where you are coming from and agree but also disagree. When I was in the military there were a lot of people playing FIFA, and it was the same song and dance every year. Old game bad but the new one will fix it. But then new game bad, but the next one will fix it. I asked on various occasions why they even bother with it and the answer was always " Because there is no alternative". And I was shaking my head and thinking to myself what a bunch of idiots but would then turn around complain about Total War and still buy every entry and DLC. I think complaining is important and even if it is pointless I would argue its more productive than toxic positivity. Should you cut it out completely even if you derive some happiness from it ? Or is some kind of abusive relationship that can't be fixed but will be maintained ?

Only complaining about something without acknowledging its positive sides or trying to make a change for yourself is also pretty dumb, but I still think that a natural dose of skepticism and criticism are probably the best way to engage with something and most likely to enable even a small positive change.

It's because Tamano is a Nihilistic faggot. It's why the best Gundam Shows generally had very little to no input from him.

G Gundam, Gundam Wing (he's only credited honarbly for it since he made the entire franchise), Iron Blooded Orphans (again only credited honarbly), Unicorn (which he hates), and so on. Pretty much everything that isn't set in the Universal Century has at least been entertaining, meanwhile most of the UC shit has just been either miserable and Nihilistic or retcons for the sake of retcons ala the Origin.

And this is coming from someone who actively enjoys Gundam.
Witch of Dykemury truly was the last time I've tolerated Gundam's retarded shit. Now I'm all in on Amrored Core.

I've finished the Hajime no Ippo anime and I'm sad now that there's no more seasons. It might be for the best at this point, I don't think I can trust modern animators to do it justice anymore. While watching Rising, I was just getting weirdly nostalgic for 2013 anime, and was wondering if MAPPA was taking cues from it so they could work on Ushio & Tora, the character designer for the anime probably is the same. Though also about Rising, I won't lie that I wasn't fully feeling that season like I did New Challenger (in which episode 24 is my second favorite anime episode of all time and I don't say this lightly), so I kinda just took my time with it compared to before. It's still good, don't give me wrong, it just felt like something was missing and I don't know what, but it did pick back up with the middleweight WBC fight, and then the season surprises me with Kamogawa and Nekota's backstory and I was like "That's why I like Ippo."

Good shit overall, and I'm so happy Netflix actually brought the series on. Every chance I get, I recommend the anime to people because it needs all the eyes it can get on there. I do need to get back into the Slam Dunk manga first before I tackle the Ippo manga proper, though.

Legit, best cinnamon roll. Really happy Ippo exists.

Honestly, Madoka Rebellion I truly think is one of the best anime movie sequels to be released in the 2010s.

Bite me.
it's not like meguca was ever that interesting to begin with
Sorry, not enough xitter shitposters tried to make it a thing.
please don't tell me they are honestly considering that bot-ridden piece of shit when it comes to new manga

The only reason something like Kagurabachi got as big as it got was loud JJK mouthbreathers hyping it up on Twitter and then it getting sent back to Japan.
I don't think it would be remotely as big as it is without that.

Dohedoro season 2 concluded and it was so good. Hopefully season 3 comes out soon.
Some of the grittiness of the manga is lost in translation specially due to 3d, but the va and sounds make up for it.

Loved the last scene. It's like, yeah this dude is the bad guy, just look at that nice smile.

Its been so long I gotta go back and rewatch the first one. I hope season 3 doesn't take as long as season 2 took to be made
